Me and my husband both smoked about 2 packs each every day. He has smoked since he was 11 years old, now 48. I have been smoking for 10 years. February 26, 2009 we woke up and within minutes my husband started feeling flushed, back pain, chest pain, and his left arm was killing him. We couldn't imagine what it was. He told me I needed to take him to the hospital. On the way to the hospital we both had a cigarette. When we got to the emergency room we were told that he was having a heart attack and would have to be airflighted to a bigger hospital. The Doctor told us that one of his valves had 99% blockage and the other 2 were 50% blocked. They opened up the valve with 99% blockage, put a stint in, and told my husband that he could never ever have even one cigarette or he might die.
That was it for us. February 26, 2009 we both smoked our last cigarette. My husband came home from the hospital two days later and sat our four children down and apologized to them. They had all lectured him on why he should not smoke. His reply to them in the past was "Hey, living will kill you."
We are so happy and breath so much better! Thats how we stopped smoking!!!!

Well I'll start off my saying I am 22 year's old and I have been smoking since 9th grade. Actually the day before I started smoking I was driving with my parents and coming from a European background you can assume my entire family is smokers. We were in the car and they were smoking this made me nausous, I remember telling them that day I will never smoke in my life...Well I didn't keep that promised and I've smoked ever since. I have quit once for about 3 day's when I was extremely ill. I've heard two way's which worked for many people, including family member's. One is to soak a cigarette in milk and let it dry, once it's dry try to smoke it, do that will all of your cigarettes, something happens where to start throwing up, and everytime you pick up a cigarette it will make you sick to your stomach, good or bad, does it really matter, we're killing ourselves either way, so I've heard this is a 100% success rate. Another thing is to try chowing on a cinnamon stick, I heard it cuts all cravings. The reason I personally haven't tried either of these is because I'm just not ready to quit lol..That's horrible to say but I am being honest. I really don't feel like I have the will power yet.
