Hi, I'm Anita Delp. I live in a rural community in Cecil County, Maryland with my husband, two children and our dog. In our free time, we enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, kyaking, camping, cycling and most of all, spending evenings around a crackling fire with family and friends. In the winter, we kind of hibernate, storing up energy for warmer weather =)
Families are the foundation of our communities and society at large. This is why supporting the wellness of families is my greatest passion. After decades of reading, studying and running out of friends who willingly listen to me ramble on this topic, I decided to pour all the information I've gathered into a blog spot. It is my sincere hope that you will find something here to improve and sustain welness within your family.
In case anyone is interested in my educational and employment background, here it is. (WARNING: reading this list may cause dizziness and severe drowsiness.) I have been trained by DONA (Doulas of North America) as a birth and postpartum doula. DONA is respected by midwives, doctors and famlies world-wide as holding the highest standards of practice for doulas. I hold certifications in elementary and special education (birth through adult) and have accumulated more than 30 hours of continuing education beyond my bachelor's degrees in English and Speech Pathology. I have worked with adults and children of all ages as a teacher and bachelor's level speech pathologist. In addition, I homeschooled my own children for years before it became necessary for me to contribute financial support for my family. Currently I work in a bilingual charter school, serve as a doula and volunteer with my church as well as two local hospitals and a pregnancy crisis center.
