The author received her Ed.D. in mathematics and mathematics education from University of Houston (1976), Houston, TX; M.S, in mathematics from University of Oregon (1971), Eugene; and B.S. from Jackson State University (1967) Jackson, MS.
She has taught mathematics at the middle school, high school, and college/university levels. She served several years as department head for a teacher education program at a prestigious university.
The author is an inspirational speaker who has served on assessment and acreditation committees for colleges/universities. She has served as an officer for professional and social organizations and as an advisor for student led clubs and honor societies.
She has traveled to almost all states in the US. She has also traveled in Mexico, Canada, Africa, and the Bahamas. Her interests include reading, writing, listening to jazz, blues, rock, country, and classical music; traveling, playing chess, card games, and using the computer for learning, writing, and entertainment.
