Hi Everyone!  I'm Chrissy.

And the truth is I am passionate about music.  Especially classical music.

As it happens, last year was a special year in which I stepped over the line from teacher and musician, replacing hectic with easy days, comfy jeans, cafe coffee, long breakfasts, dog obedience training with my German Shepherd Dogs, and being a sheep farmer.....to become an Author of Stories and Books for Children’s Music Education. And, it's beginning to feel like a long holiday.

The ideas for the books came from teaching children about the joys of music. When I told them fun stories about animals learning music, they thought this was ‘cool!’

Now it's true, I've had huge enjoyment playing flute in productions ranging from Musical Comedy to Savoy Operas, Arts Theatre Children’s productions and Concert Society Orchestras.

And, any other spare moments, musically speaking, were happily spent playing in musical ensembles, for weddings and private functions.

Music is such a rich experience and I wish for all children to know as much about music as they can. But music theory can be so complicated.

The thing is I believe if we tell kids a story they'll remember what they learnt. And, in my opinion, the most effective way to teach children something difficult is to hide the information within a story.

Not only that, I admit - I love writing books about bush animals learning music.  After all, why not?

These books and stories written for Music on the Bookshelf have been developed to provide information about orchestral instruments, rhythm & music notes, and are available in Print Book, EBook and Audio Book formats.

The stories are set in an Australian country town, where the three main bush characters, Pocket the Kangaroo, Wombat and Koe the koala, have engaging and humorous musical adventures. Each story is packed with plenty of useful information, although there is no space for lengthy technical explanations due to the character of the stories.  And so these are not tutor books.

So, this is me!  Married with two sons, running a sheep farm and always passionate about music, German Shepherds, and reading.

Cheers Chrissy
