My name is Jeff, I have a BA in sociology from Stony Brook University, and I am a long time gamer. I grew up playing pc games like Doom and Warcraft, but the first game I remember playing as a kid was Zelda II, a game which I still adore to this day. Now I enjoy games of all kinds and on all different platforms.
Gaming is a hobby which consumes a considerable amount of my money and most of my free time. My favorite plaform for gaming is still the pc, but I also have an xbox360, PS3, PS2, PSP, PS vita, Nintendo Wii, 3ds, as well as an android phone but I hardly consider phones to be gaming platforms. My pc, for anyone who is wondering, is an Intel core 2 quad with 4gb ram, an Nvidia GTX 295, with an SSD and a pair of 23inch acer LCDs. I also use a Cyborg R.A.T. 7 mouse and a matching cyborg gaming keybord.
To me, gaming is more than simple leisure. I have found that games are able to tell amazing stories, and connect the player to characters in a way that no other medium can. I love reading, but no book can scare me that way that I got scared playing Amnesia: the dark descent. I love movies but no movie has ever given me to sense of accomplishment that I got the first time I finished Final Fantasy 7. Art can be beautiful, but no painting that I have seen can compare to the beauty of Journey. Video games are an amazing form of art, and that is why I am a gamer.
Aside from gaming I really like to read. Classic science fiction is my favorite. I also like some new stuff like Dan Browns novels and Ready Player One. I also love music, particularly alternative hiphop. Thats the kind thats less about the violence and drugs and more about the art. Lupe Fiasco, Common and the Roots are some of my favorites.
