The Black Death (or plague) was one of the greatest catastrophes of human history. Between 1346 and 1353 around half the population of Europe died. Worldwide an estimated 75-200 million people died.
Until 1998 air travelers thrilled when passing at arm's length (so it seemed!) from huge mountains and skyscrapers to land at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Airport. It was one of air travel's great adventures.
