Retired! After 45 years working, is this the finish line, or the starting line? I've been a business owner, museum operations director, building code enforcement officer, and restoration contractor, living to work, I'm afraid, rather than just working to live.
Retirement means now having the time to pursue those things I've really wanted to do most of my life: complete my College education, do some serious writing, drawing, historic and genealogical research, and set up my shop to do a bit of creative construction around the house.
I've been happily married 48 years to my wonderful wife. We have three great kids and 5 fantastic grandchildren. We live in a small town in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and share the place with 5 cats, 2 dogs, a dove, and a parakeet.
My interests run the gamut from Civil War relic hunting (a shared passion with my son) to art, cooking, old books, restoration construction, politics, my faith, writing, antiques, genealogy, old pick-up trucks, and archaeology.
I am so very pleased that I ran across HubPages and this creative, sharing community.
If you enjoy writing, teaching, and sharing life's experiences, why not explore opportunities to do it, and at the same time, make money on HubPages.
