I am many things.  Most of all,  I am a lifelong student of history,  religion and critical thinking,  pursuing an eventual phd in history and religious studies.

As an atheist,  I like asking questions and understanding what people believe and why.   I think these conversations are instrumental in recognizing our similarities and our differences as a species.   I'm not afraid to ask questions,  and am a firm supporter of the fact that beliefs and opinions cannot get their feelings hurt because they have none.

I have a beautiful wife and two fury "children" a full time job and write whenever I'm able.

How on earth is this type of behavior tolerated on hubpages?

I stumbled across this hub on my news feed several days ago,  and tried to step up and offer support and encouragement for a brand new hubber whose beliefs differ from my own but who is being grossly mistreated by...

What ultimately made you leave faith behind, or embrace faith?

I'm currently in a university class on critical thinking, and it's forcing me to think about a lot of things from perspectives that I've never examined previously.  I abandoned my faith in god over the process of...

Exodus International, the notoriously vocal organization committed to the idea that gay people can change their sexual orientation is closing its doors and changing it's message.  Along with the press release...

        Proof in Personal Experience?

This Forum is primarily for a discussion between myself and Chris Neal (and anyone else who wants to join) about the nature of his personal experiences with what he claims to be god - and how those experiences relate to...

        i'm being stalked on hubpages

For several months now (almost since I joined hubpages) I have been getting harassing, threatening and ridiculous comments from the same person.  I originally encountered her in a forum, and she has not left me...

        Why Believe in the Bible?

Not all christians believe the same things about the bible - but the overwhelming majority that I've run across believe that it is the infallible word of a god.  They claim that it is historically, archaeologically...

        Ask an Atheist

I've run across a slew of believers from various religions lately that seem to have a lot of misconceptions about atheists, what they believe, what they don't believe and what they're like.  This is your...

        Reasons to Believe

I was a missionary in the christian faith for years.  I went to a bible college.  I've read the bible - at least a dozen times, cover to cover.  I've studied the dogmas, the doctrines and the theology -...

        Faith and Atheism

I wrote a hub on how faith is not required in order to be an atheist.  Someone requested that I turn it into a forum thread as well.  My position is that atheism, by definition, is the lack of a belief in a...
