At 35, I have decided to leave the proverbial rat race, throw the proverbial caution to the wind, and pursue my proverbial dream job. Ideally, I will also never use the word "proverbial" again.
In all seriousness, I was finally brave enough (and had enough savings) to quit my day job and dedicate myself to what I truly love - writing. Perhaps in six months I will find myself right back where I started, slaving away to make someone else rich, but for now I am giving my all to the written word.
My main goal is to kick-start a career in fiction. I am working on my magnum opus, a science fiction novel of epic proportions that in all liklihood no one outside of my immediate family will ever read. An audience that size is not likely to sustain me in the material sense, so I am also looking to other types of writing, especially freelance. HubPages seems like a good place to try my hand at a variety of writing; more importantly, it is also a place where I can exchange ideas with like-minded (and not-so-like-minded) people.
I don't have a lot of credentials outside of my degree in English, but I do have a lot of interesting life experience that I am passionate about sharing. So share I shall, and let's see where it leads.
Thanks for checking me out!
