I have been a nurse for over 40 years, and retired in 2010. I enjoy writing on health issues. I enjoy research and writing about subject in this field from diseases and illnesses to obesity in America, fad diets, the food pyramid, vitamins and minerals and their purpose, alternate practices, traditional medicines, home remedies and herbs, mental health, drug abuse, smoking, alcohol and much more.

I have worked in just about every realm of nursing in those 43 years. Over half of those years, I worked with the senior populace. In 1972, I had the honor of helping to set up the very first independent senior living facility with a 52-bed senior health center in 1972, in our city.

I have had firsthand experience in assisted living, Alzheimer's patients, and long-term care. Half of my career has been devoted to long and short-term senior care. I have had many years dealing with the Alzheimer's patient in my career, including two family members.

In late 1990, I had the honor of working with our state's medical examiner to set up an advanced directives program for the facility where I worked, at that time.

Fifteen of my career years dealt with the MDS assessment process that went into effect nationwide in 1990 as part of the admission process of all admissions to short and long term care residents in every state. This set the standard of care for all residents and it initiated the reimbursement process for rehabilitative facilities.

I have written over 2000 articles for two freelance writing sites since I retired in 2010. Many of these articles were health related, and over 15 were fitness articles for a TV fitness show. I have written and published over 200 health and fitness articles. Other paid article topics include any subject the client needs an article for, from education, to real estate, to law and many others. I enjoy researching to put together the best information I can find for my clients.

I have written a 300-page biography about my dad, as his life was growing up in Michigan, and later, his 22-year Navel career, including his involvement during the Pearl Harbor attack, starting WWII. This is an unpublished book now, and sits in a publishing archive. I have also written a 200-page cookbook with a short biography of each of the women in our family and their favorite dishes.
