Huckabee Endorsed by Minuteman Founder

It seems that Mike Huckabee has picked up an interesting new endorsement today. The founder of the minuteman project, which tries to get state and federal officials to enforce the current immigration laws (Minuteman project) , Jim Gilchrist said he was endorsing Mike Huckabee for president.

Gilchrist went on to say that he recently decided to endorse Huckabee because of his new immigration plan which was released last week. Huck's new plan shows a much tougher stance on immigration than he has been known for in the past.

Here are the 9 points of Huckabee's new immigration plan:

1. Build the fence
2. Increase border patrol
3. Prevent amnesty
4. Enforce the law on employers
5. Establish an economic border (this one relates to his fair tax plan)

6. Empower local authorities
7. Ensure document security
8. Discourage dual citizenship
9. Modernize the process of legal immigration

So what exactly does this endorsement mean for Huckabee?

Well it seems to me that even-though many people claim they aren't influenced by endorsements, this will have a positive impact on Huckabee's image. After all he has been attacked for his weaker positions in the past regarding immigration. but now with a new and tough immigration plan and a strong endorsement from the founder of the minuteman project, how can you fault him?
