Fun with Dick & Jane
2006, ***, Comedy
It's fun all right! Jim Carrey ("Liar Liar," "Man on the Moon") takes you to a new level in this comedy flick. When Dick Harper's (Carrey) company tanks, his life begins to fall apart. Then he and his wife Jane (Tea Léoni) literally become partners in crime to earn their income. In this one, Carrey is definitely his zany self, as usual, but with an added criminal twist.
This comedy is thoroughly entertaining from the start to finish. Dick believes things are going good at the company he works for and tells Jane she can quit her job. Soon after she quits, he loses his job, and the couple quickly finds themselves in a financial crisis.
Dick and Jane are start to crack under the financial stress and are not sure what to do. Working retail isn't Dick's strong suit, and money problems continue. He decides the only way to get money fast is to go on a little crime spree in their local community. He even steals their lawn back, piece by piece, from the neighbors! It is a hilarious scene when he tries to piece back together the lawn. This is true Jim Carrey at his best.
You will have a lot of fun watching as Carrey and Léoni scurry away frantically from each of their crime scenes in their tiny yellow and green replacement vehicle. Fortunately, Dick and Jane are able to pull a rabbit out of the hat and save the day for themselves and Jim's co-workers. If you want a movie that will keep you laughing, "Fun with Dick and Jane" is worth your time.
