Motorola E398 Review

Alright, this is an extremely old phone when it comes to how fast technology is moving these days, so this review will be quite basic. The Motorola E398 is still available but I have no idea where you would be able to purchase one from. When it first came out it had a value of $599!

Anywho, moving on... the Motorola E398 was announced in the 1st quarter of 2004 (now you know why I said it's old). It actually seems to me more like an MP3 player than a mobile phone. My partner and I actually owned one of these each. I only just recently replaced it with a Sony Ericsson W580i (much newer) whereas he replaced his last year with a Samsung C520.

When it comes to its size, the E398 is 108mm in length, 46mm in width and 21mm in thickness. I found it to be a little too big for my liking, but I got use to it.

As for it's ringtones, it handles Polyphonic and MP3. As far as I know, it has about 30 on it when you first get it (of course, you can add to this). It comes with a composer so you can test your skills and see if you can make a better ringtone and thank goodness, it also has a vibrate function (I love this function as I use it at work so I get no interuptions)!

Now that I've gotten all that out of the way, let's move on to the more technical and fun stuff!

I guess I'll start with the memory. The E398 is capable of holding 1000 contact in its phonebook. It holds 10 received, 10, dialled and 10 missed calls (total of 30 but only 10 of each). The memory card used for the E398 is a MicroSD and a 64MB card usually comes with the mobile itself (5MB of that memory is shared).
