Samsung C520 Review - How Do I Look?

The Samsung C520 is a perfect example of style at such a little price! When first introduced into the market (here in Australia) it retailed for a mere AU$199.00! Now days you can pick them up (brand new) for just AU$99.00! How good is that?! The C520 was announced in April 2007 and was released a few months later. It's quite a small phone with measurements of 84.4mm in length, 45.1mm in width and 18.2mm in thickness. To top that off, it weighs just 74g! The display screen for this phone is 1.67 inches.

As for ringtones and such, unfortunately it can only handle polyphonic. Sorry, guys and gals, no MP3. Oh, and by the way, this does have the vibration function.

Colour-wise, the C520 comes in many depending on what country you live in. From what I have seen, it is available in black, white, red, pink and purple (white and red been most common). Samsung have managed to make a phone that looks smart, stylish and professional with such a small price tag! Gotta love that!

In some countries, Samsung even brought the C520 out in pink & purple!

Samsung C520 Review - Technical Mumbo Jumbo

Yes, that's right, it's time for all that technical stuff. The C520 does not have a memory card slot which is a bit of a pain. It's in-built memory is 600MB and that is shared throughout the phone.

Bluetooth is one feature that you wish the C520 had but doesn't have (it doesn't have infrared either). But that being said, it does have a USB port so you can still download and upload anything you like.

The Samsung C520 can send and receive SMS and MMS. It comes with a few games (which I have played and they are really fun!). It has a VGA camera which has quite good picture quality. It also has the following:

Java 2.0

FM Radio

T9

Organiser

Built-in Handsfree

When it comes to battery life, the C520 is capable of 220hrs on stand-by and 2.5hrs talk time. Unfortunately, that isn't a lot, is it?

Samsung C520 Review - The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

The Good

Stylish Look

Light Weight

Camera

A variety of colours to choose from

Price

FM Radio

The Bad

No Bluetooth

Not MP3 ringtone compatible

Texting is quite difficult

No memory card slot

The Ugly

Battery life of only 220hrs stand-by and 2.5hrs talk time

Call quality is commonly inconsistent (which can be a bad thing)

All that being said, I would say that this phone is for someone who is just after something simple that looks good and isn't a brick.
