How to get Backlinks from Flickr
Would you like a backlink with that photo?
Are you using photos from Flickr in your hubs? If you are you should be getting a backlink to your hub too!
Adding some visual content to your hubs is a great way to enhance their appeal and communicate your message more effectively. Even if you don't have your own content there are now many sources of free images. For photos Flickr is probably the first port of call for many hubbers and bloggers looking for an image to illustrate an article. If you're not already finding images at Flickr read this hub on how to find photos that are free to use.
So, you've found a great image and got it into your hub, along with attribution to the creator on Flickr. End of story? Well often that is, but it shouldn't be. Go one step further and you can create the first backlink to your new hub. Here's what you should do after you've published your new hub;
- head back over to the image page on Flickr
- if you aren't already, you'll need to sign in to Flickr
- leave a thank you comment for the image author telling them where you've used their image
- format you're comment to hyperlink to your hub
- you're done; instant backlink!
Creating online content is only half the story at best; just as much effort is required in promoting and marketing content, so it is essential not to miss an easy 'trick' like this. The beauty of this is Flickr is a hugely popular site so a link from a page on Flickr is worth more than many other easily created backlinks. This is particularly so if you use an image that is both popular and relevant (look at the tags associated with it) to your article.
I hope this little hub has proved useful, don't forget the same technique can, of course, be used for promoting any other online content your producing such as on your own blog.
If you have your own photos on Flickr and are interested in how to make some money from your photostream read this hub.
