Father's Day Gift Ideas: The Barbecuing Father

Updated on June 14, 2011

Father's Day Is Coming:

It is that time of year again and the mad dash is on to figure out what to get Dad for Father's Day. While it can sometimes be difficult, Father's Day is not impossible, and it can even be easy if you know what Dad likes. If the Dad in your life is a barbecuer, a griller or in between, you have come to the right place.

Below are five Barbecuing Father's Day Gift Ideas arranged in by their Average Price. One money symbol ($) means it tends to be more budget friendly, and five money symbols ($) means that you should check the bank account before buying.  Any of these ideas will be ideal for a great Father's Day gift. Good luck this Father's Day and enjoy.

A dry rub can make all the difference between good barbeque and great barbeque.

Dry Rubs ($):

A steak tastes best when well seasoned. A good dry rub can take an ordinary slab of meat and make it taste wonderful. You can get dry rubs at most major grocery stores, but a good idea to look into is see if your Dad has a favorite cook.

I know many barbecuing fathers like Bobby Flay, and Bobby Flay just so happens to have his own line of Dry Rubs. This would put a special spin on the Dry Rub idea. It is fun to be able to season your steaks with something that you know your favorite chef endorses.

Meat Thermometer ($$):

Nothing damages a barbecuer's pride more than undercooked food. I love my steaks medium rare, but my wife likes hers medium well. If I hand her medium rare, there's no denying that I made a mistake. A meat thermometer can stop this issue, and Dad won't have to cut a steak in half to make sure. There are regular thermometers that have a dial in them that slowly moves a needle to the temperature the meat is at and then there are the digital ones.

The digital ones are great because you do not need to remember what temperature a medium steak should be at, what temperature a well-done steak should be at, etc. A meat thermometer is a great step toward never having to put food back on to the grill for a few more minutes.

Steak ($$$):

If you cannot buy him a grill, then you can buy him something to put on the grill. It's hard to figure out how to wrap up steak and give it to him without spoiling, that's why I suggest a gift certificate to Kansas City Steaks or Omaha Steaks. It's like giving him the best cut of meat, but he can order them when he chooses!

I suggest the above two companies because I've eaten both of their products and they are both fantastic. They deliver on time and have good customer service, which will add to Dad's experience. There are other companies out there, but I cannot vouch for the, and Father's Day isn't the day to be gambling on some other company.

A nice grill gazebo can make grilling that much more enjoyable for Dad on Father's Day.

Grill Gazebo ($$$$):

If Dad has everything, but he still has to grill out in the hot Sun, then you may want to consider a grill gazebo. This is a shelter that stands above the grill, and the immediate grill area. This will allow Dad to grill food without having the sun grill him.

This is a great gift for a dad that has everything but cover. Make sure that the gazebo you purchase has a vent in the top to allow smoke to escape if the design looks like it needs it. All that I have seen had this feature, but I have seen bad designs in many things before. The one to the right does not need a vent as the design allows for the smoke to vent.

This may be just what Dad needs.

Grill ($$$$$):

If your father's grill is on its last leg, too small for your family, or just a pain in the neck, your father may need a new Barbeque Grill. Yes, this gift is expensive, but it is the gift that will keep on giving. There are two types of grills and you will want to make sure that you get the kind that your Dad likes. There are gas types and charcoal types.

It is easy to tell which one he uses. If there is a tank connected by a hose, then it is a gas grill, and if he uses little black nuggets that look like rocks, he is probably using a charcoal grill. Whether you know it or not, grillers tend to be finicky about which one is better so make sure to get the kind that Dad likes! You can pickup grills at nearly every major hardware store, and even wal-mart carries a few. If at all possible, listen to the brands that dad likes. If at any point you are unsure, speak to one of the guys over at the hardware store and they will be more than willing to give you their insight.

Father's Day is a wonderful occasion where we get to show Dad that we appreciate everything he has done for us.  I hope this article has helped you to come up with a great idea that will allow you to let Dad know that you appreciate him this Father's Day.
