White tigers are very rarely found in the wild.In about a 100 years only about 12 white tigers have beeen seen in the wild in India. They re almost extinct and most of the ones living are in captivity, mostly zoos. This specific tiger is neither an albino nor a seperate subspecies of the tiger. They are beautifully white colored and have black stripes. It has blue eyes and a pink nose. It h also has white colored fur. The white tiger is born to a bengal tiger that has the gene for white coloring. A pure white tiger has no stripes and totally white.

White tigers are in asian species, found from the frozen tundra of the Soviet Far East, south to the humid jungles of Malaya and Indonesia, and west to the hot hardwood forests of India. There are five living subspecies; three others are already extinct. Currrent estimates put the world population of the wild tigers at about 5,000-7,000, the most numerous race being the Bengal race , distributed among some 18 tiger reserves and sanctuaries of India, and some in Nepal.

White Tiger Habitat

Thereare only a small quanity of white tigers in existence and present numbers are put in the region of 500. With the inevitable inbreeding problem a debate continually rages over the wisdom of breeding this animal. White tigers, white lions, white peacocks, none are represenitive of their wild populations.

Habits

Unlike some bigcats like lions, adult tigers like to live alone ( except for the mothers tigers with cubs). This is partly because in the forest, a single tigers can sneak up and surprise its prey better than a group of lions can.

Range & Habitat

The size of tigers territory depends on the amount of food available , and usually ranges from about 10 to 30 square miles. Siberian tigers sometimes have really big territories , as large as 120 square miles. Although tigers usually live alone, tiger territories can overlap. a male tiger's territory usually overlaps those of several female tigers. Today only about 5,000-7,000 wild tigers live across Asia. The past and present ranges of the remaining five tiger subspecies; northernmost living tiger, Aur or Siberian tiger, lives mostly in Russia. The South China tiger occurs in southern China. The range of the Indochinese tiger extends across most of Southeast Asia. The Bengal tiger is found primiarily in India, while the Sumatran tiger is restricted to the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The Bali, Caspian, and Javen tigers have become extinct in the past 70 years.

White Tigers-Adaptations

White tigers have some special adaptations, which help them survive in the wild. for instance, the stripes on the tiger's body help them to become invisible in the tall grass and trees.White tigers have extremely strong jaws and teeth, which are very helpful in catching their prey. Plus they have a strong sense of smell, and their eyesight is rather sharp. Bengal tigers are excellent swimmers. Their coat protects them in cold and hot weather.

Life span : White tigers in the wild live upto 10 -15 yearswhile tigers in the zoos live up to 18-20 years.

Diet : pig,cattle,deer,small rodents

Caring For Young : Tigers generally solitary animals, exceept when caring for young. Tigers keep their young with them for about 2-3 years.

Kenny- I must say you have good taste, that's my fav. to!

Mr.Marmalade- thanx. Yes, there is something about them.

compu-Anyway I don't think you should cuddle tigers.=] Did you hear about the tiger that was taunted and killed [I think a seventeen year old] and the others were badly injured. Then animal security came and the tiger was shot down. And that was the same tiger who tore off the zookeepers arm during feeding time. You probably have heard of it, though. and the magican who was killed by a tiger to. ;] it's safer to cuddle one in your dreams.
