What is "flavour"? The rest of the listing doesn't include any French words.... Hmmm. What's up with all the added grains? I don't think I would feed this treat/snack to my cat.

We start with chicken by-product meal as the first ingredient. By-products are floor sweepings collected from a rendering plant. Anything that hits the floor and is not fit for human consumption is by-product. By-products can't have "added" feathers but the ones included in the mess are just fine. Meal means the floor sweepings have had the water removed and the feathers, poultry poo, whatever has hit the floor is now concentrated.

We should probably take time out from this review to remind ourselves of the good and bad effects of corn, wheat, and soy in a cat or dog's diet. *Corn, wheat and soy are resonsible for fever, ear aches, ear infections, bad bread, dental disease, hair loss, dry and itchy skin, bloat, tumors, warts, moles, abnormal nail growth, arthritis, deafness, blindness, digestive problems, siezures, inflamed liver, inflamed kidneys, bladder problems, heart problems, and death. Oh yeah, for the good effects of these three grains - reduces the cost of pet food production.

Natural Flavor. I always like the way pet food companies hide the use of manure in the ingredients. Natural flavor is made from the manure of the animal the pet food company wants the pet food to taste like. Poultry poop, yum, yum.

"Meat" is often rendered dogs and cats as well as other animals such as road-kill. When the source of the meat is known it will be listed as beef, poultry, chicken, turkey, etc. If the source of the meat is not known it is simply called "meat.

Because manufacturers need to ensure that dry foods have a long shelf life (typically 12 months) to remain edible through shipping and storage, fats used in pet foods are preserved with either synthetic or "natural" preservatives. Synthetic preservatives include butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), propyl gallate, propylene glycol (also used as a less-toxic version of automotive antifreeze), and ethoxyquin.

Anytime I see a Class Action filed against a company and the products the company produces I would not advise feeding their products to your pets. The pet owners have filed a Class Action against the company for killing their pets.

Karen,

I'm guessing you work at a vet clinic?  Why would you or the vet at the clinic allow a sick or healthy cat to eat antifreeze?

Where is this clinic?  Glad you let us know there are pet health care locations feeding this stuff!

I have never had one single product as this since studying, to have such mass approval and the joy it gives pet owners to see their cats who are not eating, take to Whiskas Temptations. It comes in many flavors, and cats who were sickly, are now having to be weaned off of these treats. I have been criticized for not recommending them more. Apparently, they appeal more to most cat owners than almost any product I have ever seen, and their cats do not appear to have side affects. I am not affiliated with this product financially or in any way.

Laura,

Thank you for the review. I just can't see feeding antifreeze to my pets no matter how much they enjoy it.

Well I don't care what this reviewer says...I feed treats to my cat like parents give their children candy....as a treat. The sugar and preservatives aren't good for kids but they love it so....yea the ingredients aren't the best for our cats but they love them.

I give my cat about two handfuls of this a week. He goes BONKERS....excuse the expression but these treats are my cats crack addiction. He knows when the treats are comming out. If he is ever outside and I can't get him to come to me, like lounging under the cars where I can't get him, all I have to do is grab the treat bag, shake it twice, and I have a cat begging to come inside.

He is happy and healthy. He is a good weight, good excersize, has nutritionally sound diet, all of his blood tests always show up great, and my vet constantly tells me how well I care for my cat. I spare no expense to keep him health BUT I would never cut these treats out of his diet as long as he is healthy.

I reccommend these treats to anyone who has a cat.

Sniper,

I'm always glad to hear a good report! I have to caution people against these treats since so many cats have died while eating the treats. In fact, enough cats have died that a Class Action has been filed against the company.
