Some pages are ranking twice while Google sorts things out.

Update on the Move to HubPages.com

What's Happening with the Redirects

As we announced recently, Hubs, Q&A, and Forums have all been migrated back to the HubPages.com domain instead of subdomains. We did this because subdomains appear to no longer be insulating individual authors from traffic changes the way we originally planned, because the new URLS for Hubs will appear more attractive and clear in search results, and because we wanted to signify to Google and readers that we have come to uphold a certain standards and quality sitewide.

So far, Google has picked up the new URLs of some Hubs and not others. Many Hubs are listed twice in search results now as well, which can result in a temporary bump in traffic due to the double listings. Some Hubs are also experiencing a dip in traffic because they are ranking for only some of the previous search queries at the new location. We believe these issues will be sorted out in time. Hubs with URLS that have been fully processed seem to regain the traffic lost during the transitional stages. You can read the full details of the process in CEO Paul Edmondson's latest Hub.

In summary, if you have experienced or are still experiencing a small bump, and then a dip in the traffic of some or all of your Hubs, we believe this is normal and will level out as Google gets the URLS sorted. We feel very strongly that the migration back to HubPages.com will be a positive change for the site when the dust settles. Thank you for your patience!

Pro Tips

Eagerly awaiting the completion of the site migration.

How Long Will the Migration Process Take?

So far, some Hubs have fully transitioned while others have not, and still others are in mid-transition right now. We believe high-traffic Hubs with more back links tend to get resolved more quickly, but our best estimate is that it will take another couple weeks for everything to settle back to normal (and hopefully even improve).

During this process, Paul Edmondson recommends updating Hubs to get them crawled faster, especially if they seem to be taking longer than other Hubs.

Read Paul Edmondson's Hub on the process for more info:
