10 Strange Pet Secrets Your Pets Will Never Tell You...
Pets need their social status.
Do you really know your pet?
Strange Pet Secrets: Here are 10 Secrets that our pets will never tell or admit to us. Find out what they are and what to do about them. It's amazing how little is known about the secrets Pets have With People and People With Pets: Those very special relationships that supposedly contain their share of behavioral problems; often overlooked, often unseen by pet owners. This article is about people learning the subtleties of pet philosophy, by understanding their pet’s quirkiness and finding out what to do about their personal secrets, before seemingly common behavior problems become established.
From a pet’s perspective; it is often considered that many of the human quirks that we take for granted; actually allow the pets to label us as mental people. Pets tend to base that opinion on the fact that most humans don’t actually see or understand many of the basic things, that to an animal; are important to their social status and their ability to maintain their respective roles within that structure. There are10 personal secrets your pet will never tell you about; when you know them, you will wonder why you had never seen them before.
Throughout the world, animals which you feel serve your needs well, have secretly adapted to all kinds of human situations; in clever ways that are actually designed to help them have you unwittingly, serve their needs. Social status is important to most living things and for pets; this status having descended from past days in the wild, is no less important today. To fully understand your pet’s perspective on this issue; ask yourself how you would deal with living in the animal’s world; while trying to maintain your own social status and habits.
Let’s have a look at the things that you probably don’t know about your pet, its hidden social life and some important animal facts; that may be considered as potential behavior problems; but in reality are merely an invitation for people to learn a little about pet philosophy.

They want to be themselves.
Seemingly unrelated evidence.
For all you know about your pet, you may find that your knowledge is quite limited after understanding some of your pet’s personal secrets; those things that have such an important bearing on what it is to be; socially accepted in the animal kingdom. Our roaming reporter, Tom the Cat, has once again interviewed a selection of pets who have ‘spoken’ freely to him; about their secrets and some of the ways they have adjusted to enable them to maintain their power over people and get what they want.
Ultimately, like the majority of people, pets just want to be themselves and be free to enjoy the freedom that that provides them. There is an instinctive urge to demonstrate who they are to their peers and in that respect, they will often mask the preparation process involved. Consider also that pets are very resourceful when it comes to ensuring that no mere human is going to stand in the way of a special social gathering in which they are expected to perform to the best of their ability socially. 90% of the time, you won’t know unless you understand some of the tricks that get played by your pet.
You will notice subtle changes occurring up to a week before one of those ‘unknown’ events take place. Perhaps it may just be an increase in your power account as a result of secret blow wave sessions, while you are absent. You will notice your pet preening themselves more than normal, or with some dogs, they will ensure that they smell differently; often ‘rolling’ in a different flavor this week. These are sure signs something is in the wind. Maybe in some cases, especially with 'dirty' dog behavior, it’s a good idea to always stand upwind as you deviously observe your pet going through the motion, so to speak.
Nothing but bars will stop them.
What? Even my toothbrush?
Other things that lead up to a secret event are not so subtle. In fact, some things are almost certainly deliberate hints of the confidence that your pet has in its ability to mislead you into thinking that your pet is special. Have you found toothpaste splattered throughout the bathroom? Perhaps, your toothbrush tastes a little different than usual, or you find strands of fur entangled in the bristles. Cat behavior dictates that everything gets 'marked' so don't think for a minute that your toothbrush is going to escape; no matter how high your holder is; cats love high places. Think for a minute; where on a cat are the scent glands!
If your cat thinks you are cool; it will mark you, merely by brushing up against you. If your cat thinks that in some way you are restricting it in it's ability to perform it's social duties; then you will get the message alright; everywhere that you consider sacred. Never believe that you can hold your pet back from what it wants to do 24/7; you have to sleep sometimes! Perhaps you have noticed how often your cat naps during the day; that is because they are highly sociable animals that get up to all sorts of lunar antics, while you think you pet is snuggled up on your bed. Cats are the second best planners; behind Tortoises and are the fifth most devious pets of all; behind Frogs, Guppies, Magpies and Weasils. If you think you've solved a behavior problem; yes there will be some form of 'payback.'
Some pets just need to be seen.
Pets Love to Show Off Too!
These dogs are really Hot!
Dogs on the other hand, are pretty cruisy right? Well they certainly are when it comes to dressing up; the more outrageous the better. Today with dogs it is socially acceptable to wear anything from hats, coats, shoes and well; even accessories that make them look hot. And why not; people do exactly the same don't they?
Most animals will do anything to be seen. What they wear, their colour, the sounds they make, the way they move and their body language; all point towards where they are, or consider that they stand among their peers. Many animals wear bright colors to warn potential predictors that they are dangerous if attacked; sometimes they are only bluffing. Color is one thing that people find attractive about animals; though many don't understand the real significance of this important form of identification and communication.
We have much to learn about all the other creatures on this earth; life is not all about us. It only takes a little caring and respect, to ensure that we read the needs of all living creatures; not just those we are lucky enough to call our pets.
Pets really are party animals.
We're having a party! Where?
One of the most surprising of secrets that were uncovered was that all animals love to party! How have they managed to keep this a secret for so long? Amazing! I have to admit that my first thoughts were based on complete disbelief.
Attending social parties for birthdays is generally regarded as the most important within the pet's social calender. Parties are not restricted solely to set species though; when the need to hunt is taken away; they tend to mix well together. Birthday parties are often predictable as certain breeds or species celebrate a collective set date for their birthdays. August 1st. is a very special date that is shared by many animals; including Horses, Parrots, Dogs, Cats and Chickens. Tom the Cat explained that the reason for having that date, is that it was the birth date of the king. I'm sure he meant the king of the jungle; the Lion.
With birthday parties, nothing is spared for party goers; but pets however, have a commonsense approach to them; unlike many people. There is never a shortage of anything; fun, food, drink and music wise; but no pets ever drive home drunk. It is a time to dress up in outfits that they have chosen, rather than those they are expected to wear as a result of an owner's misguided whim. All parties occur at times and at venues, that we mere humans would never normally suspect; when it's party time, you will probably not even notice you pet is awol and if you do; you won't know why! Consider how often you have feed your pet in the mornings and it seems to be 'off it's food.' Maybe your pet has got a hangover? It won't tell you.
A great party has dancing.
Gotta be music and dancing.
The Sixth Secret also relates to the traditional party atmosphere. Music is always played loud, but it may not be the sort of music that people identify with. Dancing to the sounds is more important than what is being played, as dancing forms a major part of the courtship ritual that applies to the majority of living creatures. As Tom asked; "Isn't that dancing thing, the very reason owners exist?"
So for pets, dancing to the latest 'music' involves also improving their social networking skills, as new things are discussed and shared between the different species; each of which bring their own musical styles to the parties. Maybe then we can learn from our pets; that the sounds of wailing tomcats or the bird songs of a morning thrush; are the sounds of living and when heard without any negative human interference; are able to be understood enough to share and to dance to! Ask yourself; "Is that why animals hearing is so acute?" It is all about communication; the given sense that we people; often drown with our talking, throughout those times when we should just listen; to the world around us. So we can see ourselves the way animals see us?
Pets find their owners funny.
They often make fun of us.
One of the main events at any party is the charade game called, ‘Guess My Owner.’ We were not able to find out why this was so popular, other than being told that it is always the funniest part of the social gathering.
What we do know however is, that every party goer in attendance must silently move throughout the crowd with props that they feel best resembles their owners. As each pet moves around the other guests, the pet must mimic the traits of the owner who belongs to that pet. Howling laughter is not allowed until the owner is identified and acknowledged; then it just erupts, often lasting for hours.
Clearly, pets have social gatherings that have striking similarities to those of people. How many times have you been somewhere in a group, perhaps at a party; when someone starts a conversation about their pet and walks you through their pet's habits? Or maybe a pet show where they line all the pets up in front of others and then mimic their pets. The caged pets on show, in banks of metal jails, their owners poking their faces and fingers into the bars, while making sounds that they consider to be the language of their respective pets.
And on show; the clapping popularity of swirling 'partnerships' between the owners and their charges, as they trot around the 'show' ring; in a carefully choreographed stride and matching colours? Is this attention seeking behavior, or merely a mutual game that both the owner and the pet use to demonstrate the similarities between them? Horse owners do this as well. Why aren't such game relationships made available for Angelfish or pet frogs and their owners? So if it is attention seeking behavior; what is the real purpose behind such behavior? Maybe it's a Secret.
Animals have a sense of humor.
Having a safe, peaceful life.
I no longer have any doubt that pets have a sense of humor after debriefing Tom after his recent groundbreaking work. Clearly, George Orwell and the hands on practitioner Dr. Doolittle, were also completely enlightened in regard to the enigmas of pet philosophy.
Tom smirkingly advised me that it had long been the ambition of most pets to establish owner shows. But they all struggled with the logistics of finding suitable venues, best types of cages and the types of owners that would best suit being caged for the shows. What a thought; just imagine how those people would feel being judged by a panel of their pet superiors!
Apparently, the humor fades when the subjects of safety, peaceful living conditions and suitable healthcare enter into the equation. Striking similarities between people and pets begin to surface. In reality, the concerns should not have surprised me as much as it did because pets too, have basic needs; just like those people who tend to so often not care to take the time to consider seeing or acting on those needs. In summing this up, Tom went on to say that he doubted people could survive; if the roles were reversed and people had to live with the pain of ill treatment and neglect; that erodes every pet's dream of having a safe and peaceful home.
Pets often beg you to join them.
Do you read body language?
Do you read and understand the body language that your pet is constantly communicating to you? Sure, perhaps you know a few words, but do you read the whole sentence? Pets don't think so and whether you think so or not, they should know!
Tom stated that most pets really only make fun of their 'owners' because, they feel that their 'owners' are making fun of them; by ignoring the bulk of the conversations. He said; "Animals know what their 'owners' are saying, so why do most 'owners' never listen?" Wow, Good question!
Often your pets enjoy your company so much; they want you to join them in everything that they do (except parties!). The reason for this is that they accept you as being a key member of their social structure and just as they are driven by natural obligations to that structure; they expect you to as well. This is after all part of their bonding process. A good example of this would be how dogs feel about regular walks with their owners; if the owner instigates the practice (hopefully every day!), then the dog finds it natural to let the owner always be in charge, unless it's a boring walk! To avoid potential behavior problems; never be too lazy to keep up the daily routine; or you will lose your pet's respect and your Alpha ascendancy. Has your dog ever come to remind you that it is walk time, with a leash in it's mouth and a paw wrapped around your legs? Do yourself and the relationship a real favor; read the body language!

Pets like to be in full control.
So, who is really in control?
Earlier, it was mentioned that pets are determined to train us to serve them! Pets are extremely successful at such manipulation; so much so, that owners are often in denial that a mere animal had been smart enough to control them! Yep, those in denial have definitely lost their Alpha dominance and are hoping that you, or the pet won't see that they have. Yep, I also bet that your own pets always let you know in some way; when it's time for you to feed them!
Perhaps this is yet another reason owners never get party invitations? I would go so far as to bet that is the case after I noticed a strange winking in Tom's right eye; as he talked about parties and lengths that pets will go to, in not missing the events. Knowing a wee bit about Tom; I think it may be more of what he didn't say, over what he did! I'm sure that pets use the parties as an opportunity to learn the subtle art of manipulation. That would fit with their 'Guess my Owner' game.
So that would also explain how my pet frog got my puppy to pee on my laptop, the day after I had forgotten to take them both for a walk! No; more like a walk for the pup, while the frog rode on his head; he was training both of us! And apparently, pets are pretty savvy tech-wise too; as that scruffy tomcat told me that pets are collectively developing a human remote control; which they can just point at people and have them do everything at the touch of a button! Where's that cat?
There are more than 10 secrets.
But Wait! That's not all.........
As a special once only offer to those who have taken the time to read this work: We'll give you absolutely free; this Bonus Secret.
That Secret is: That Pets have far more secrets than those what we have looked at today. This Rabbit has just told us that there are still at least another 10 personal secrets that your pet will never tell you. Our roaming reporter ,Tom the Cat is back on the job again; interviewing yet another group of pets, including the bloke in the cage here, who said he would enjoy some company; even if is just a (Sshh) scruffy Tomcat! But Tom's next assignment is gong to be a lot harder for him; as he must get over his fear of birds, water and tropical fish.
Take Care of your pets these holidays. Hope you enjoyed the messages from the pets that took part in our article. See you soon with our next lessons in pet philosophy. In the meantime, I would like to add that the only mental people that I've met pet-wise; are those who find pleasure in neglecting or abusing their pets. Especially when each of them had an opportunity to find pleasure in getting to know and understand their pets. Sadly though, such behavior problems are often overlooked and often unseen. Maybe the pets got it right; show cages are a good idea after-all. Thank you for caring.
