Doberman sits on sofa (other large breeds too)
So you've got a dobey! or perhaps another similar breed! After months of training you think you have them under control? Well perhaps not fully. You see many people are under the impression that dogs have their place in the family and that certainly doesn't mean them sitting on the furniture.
Errrmm.. Try telling that to a Dobermann. In fact the same goes for other breeds of large dogs, Great Danes in particular and I'm told Weinmariners as well as other large and intelligent breeds - they just do not like sitting on their backsides.
My boy will endeavour to sit on anything that is not the floor, the sofa, a cushion, my knee and even yesterday as I was sitting under a tree sheltering from the rain he came and plonked himself down on my SHOULDER rather than sit on the ground. In fact in our home he has earned the name "Prince Lexx", as he feels that he is above the normal constraints of normal dogs when it comes to perching his derrier.
To see exactly what I mean please view the video below which shows him in one of his more princely acts...
Of course as my beloved pet I find it hard to discipline these actions as I find them pretty amusing. Perhaps I shouldn't but I do, and from what I've read it is pretty much a trait of dobernans and other large breed dogs.
