Dogs And Their Effect On Our Lives

Friendship Like No Other

Come on, you have to admit that dogs can offer a friendship that no other human can give to you. A friendship that involves an unconditional love, even when they witness you do that embarrassing dance that you're only willing do when you're alone. They may give you a look, their eyes may widen in fear, but at least they never say anything to you.

They are that single best friend that's always there when you wake up from a nightmare. Sometimes they are actually the one that's waking you up from that nightmare by licking your face vigorously with love. They are the friend that automatically makes you forget you even ever had a terrifying dream.

Then they are the single one friend that you can honestly say has not said a single bad thing bad about you behind your back. The one friend that's there to lick your tears away when your sad and even the one friend that's there to listen to you when all others aren't willing to.

Here is a friendship like no other.

Our Mental Lives

When everything seems dark and gray, when we feel as if everything we do is wrong and as if we're making mistakes left and right our dog friends always seem to try to tell us something different. When all I want to do is cry, there is my best pal wagging here tale, with her tongue sticking out.

These little animals, well sometimes not so little, seem to know when we aren't always in the best of moods and most of the time they are there. My friend will try to make me laugh when laughter seems to be so far away. She'll curl up next to me when all I need is a good cuddle. And she'll do just about anything to make my day better because she knows that I'll do the same for her.

There is no doubt that these canine creatures work miracles in our mental lives.

Phsyical Lives

Not only do they seem to touch our mental lives but our physical ones as well. There are a few canine buddies out there that seem to know when something wrong is in the air. I have a couple physical conditions and my dog knows each time when something is about to happen and she's always right there. According to my family, she never leaves my side. Now that's a true friend right there.

Dogs can work wonders for those who have illnesses, both outward and inward. There are those who help the blind, the deaf, farmers, police dogs. And my favorites, the ones who go into the hospitals and help those who really need a helping hand when it seems like nothing can get any worse than it already is.

The Touch Of An Angel

I describe the moment my dog entered my life like a touch of an angel. We both have abusive
pasts and we connect in ways that I don't think I've ever connected with any other animal before.

There is no denial here that dogs effect our lives in many ways. Yes, there have been some bad incidents due to bad owners. But, oh, how the good outnumber that bad.

I think you're absolutely right there is no love like a pet's love. Especially when you save them from a life of abuse. We have two saved dogs. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

That is wonderful to know KoffeeKlatch. I'm always pleased to hear that people have dogs that have been saved. My dog was saved, abused. The people at the shelter believed that she was thrown out the car window. In either case she is missing two little toes on her paw.

We love our dogs and our cats. I wish we could adopt them all and keep them comfortable and happy. We do not have the resources to be such heroes so only one dog at a time.

Yes, very true. I wish I could rescue them all but alas as you said, I do not have the resources. Glad to hear that you love dogs and cats as well.

I have 6 rescued dogs, 1 confused rescue cat, and 1 even more confused bird. Animals are a huge part of my elderly mom and my lives. I can't imagine life without them. You've written a great tribute.

Thank you. I cannot even imagine my life with out my dog. Just like anybody else I struggle a lot and she has helped me a great deal. Not to mention I have some psychical problems as well and she knows each time I'm going to have a problem. I didn't even train her to do that. She's wonderful. Glad to hear you have rescue animals. I always love to hear when someone chooses to rescue.

It's so wonderful to read about people like yourself that has given an animal a second chance of happiness in life!

To have a dog by your side is the best therapy anyone can ask for. My rescue dog has for the past eleven years been by my side, and I could not have asked for a better or more loving friend! I love him so much!

Voted up and beautiful.

Your baby girl is so beautiful!

Take care of each other.

SanneL, Thank you. She's my angel and well I love her so much. Every time I think about her past I just want to cry because she's such a loving adorable girl. She is one who will lay on your lap, one who constantly wants attention. How could anyone hurt an animal?

I am also glad to hear that you have a rescue dog. That's wonderful.
