Birds have a very special place in my heart and are a significant part of my life. I see them as harbingers of hope and the changing of the seasons, bringers of delight, symbols of wonder and teachers of wisdom.

Recently dear friends gave me a marvelous book, Bird Signs Guidance & Wisdom From Our Feathered Friends, written by G.G. Carbone and illustrated by Mary Ruzicka. It is a close companion, along with my Medicine Cards book and my Audubon bird books.

Whenever I have the joy of seeing birds I consult my books and always value learning more about these winged wonders, who grace my life. Sky dancers, who delight with amazing aerial skills and silly antics. From tiny hummingbirds to Great Blue Herons, I never tire of watching, listening and learning from them.

Recently I had the privilege of seeing and photographing some beautiful Mallards and majestic Canada Geese. They had found a nice wetlands in the desert and were clearly enjoying themselves as well as experiencing some fine dining.

According to Carbone, Duck's Inspiration is Decision. The Healing Colors are Green and Cinnamon. The Message is, "Decision is the reflection of perfect timing within the flow of the universe."

If you choose the Duck card or if Ducks appear for you, "...know that whatever decision you make is the correct one at the moment. Pondering the what-ifs wastes time. Live your life in the present, and make the best decision you can so you'll have no regrets."

According to Carbonne, Goose's Inspiration is Protection. The Healing Colors are White and Black. The Message is, "Protection helps to preserve your life."

"The Canada Goose protects its young and, if the need arises, fights a predator twice its size. With Goose in your life, focus on watching over your surroundings. If you need to honk for help, then do so. Are you traveling somewhere? If you chose the Goose card, your upcoming journey is swift and safe. With regard to your career or job, you can accomplish things quickly and efficiently. Pat yourself on the back when you deserve the accolades....Let goose bumps signal an opportunity for you to follow your true spiritual path."

Take time to look up and treat yourself to the wonders of all the different kinds of sky dancers there are. Learn about the habits and behaviors of different birds and what they might symbolize for you when they appear. Are they special visitors, passing through on a migratory route, or are they residents in your area? How do you feel when you see them? If you keep your heart open to their presence, to their labors, and to their unique sounds and songs, your life can be immeasurably enriched.

There is a wonderful Chinese proverb which says, "If I keep a green bough in my heart, the singing bird will come."

A delightful book with insights and guiding wisdom.

A must for birders, filled with information and great photos for identification.

Thank you for your comments, Sir William. And I am really excited for you! How many chickens? What kinds? I love ducks too. Having fresh eggs is so wonderful. I think goats are next for us. I realize you are busy, and deeply appreciate your visit and your comments. Hugs & Blessings to you and your lovely muse. L.

Your expressions are beautifully said. Duck is a segment of your life, as is Goose, and the others that will come along as well. As you experience each one, your wisdom will grow. You will not know them all, but you will understand them all better. Watch, grow, and learn from the best, as they will never lie to you, or steer you wrong. Kosmol.
