I Haven't Forgotten You My Darling Pup

I can’t believe it’s been a whole year,

since you left me torn and in bitter tears.

Did you know close to me I keep a lock of your fur,

foolishly afraid your memory will become a blur?

You are in my heart wherever I go,

holding on to the memories of not long ago.

So much has happened this year’s time,

but I know you know we’re all going to be fine.

Your time with us we still discuss,

with those you left behind in such a rush.

We sorely miss you my precious loving pup,

your photos will I keep like a priceless gold cup.

And if the Lord deems us worthy of sharing heaven with you,

I pray to see you happily surrounded by all my departed pups.

I love you my dear Poppy. This love of mine will never die.

Those of us who have had canine companions and have lost them to death understand your poem perfectly. Your darling pup looked like a sweetie!

Peggy, thank you for understanding my loss. I'm sure you feel the same way about your pets. Poppy was my cutie and such a loving companion. Thanks for reading.

Faithful you know how I empathize with you and your loss of dear Poppy. Why oh why must they be taken from us so soon. Your poem is so heart-felt one can feel the sadness. Remembering the good times is a gift and certainly keeps them with us in a sense. I'm reading a book now on how wolves became dogs, and their relationship with us may go back much further in time than previously thought. A very long time ago that is.:)

FD,

Wow! It's been a whole year. Our pets are precious to us. Truly gifts from a loving God.

Alastar, thank you for your sympathetic words. I had to control tears as I wrote this. Fifteen years of loyal loving devotion is something that cannot be forgotten easily. You are right, their time with us is very short but their love lasts a lifetime. Interesting thing about the wolves. I've done some reading on that as well.

Lifegate, it's always good to see you stop by. I can't believe that a year has gone so quickly, seems like yesterday. I feel as you do, Poppy and all my pets are truly a gift from God.

Faithful Daughter,

What a beautiful poem. Your Poppy reminds me of my Diamond. I still miss him. Thanks for being a person who has a heart that includes animals.

Best Always,

Kim

Kim,

Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I can relate to you missing your precious Diamond. Poppy is still missed in my home; he was very special but so are all my pets, the only difference is that Poppy silently suffered a lot and still loved me unconditionally until the end without a complaint. Now that's love one can never forget. Wishing you all the best Kim. Take good care of yourself.

How my heart aches for you in the loss of your dear furry friend. We lost our little girl kitty in June of this year. I still find myself foolishly expecting to see her in her bed (no, I have not been able to put it away), or sitting in the window chirping at the birds. Thank you for sharing this sweet hub.

Carb, I am so, so sorry for your loss. That love never dies in us. I still think about Poppy often and miss him very much. I've adopted another pet from the shelter and he's brought much healing and joy back in my house. Thank you for stopping by and sharing.
