Mutts vs. Purebred
I say get a cat.
Joking.
Okay so most people say that they prefer mutts over purebred because they are cheaper and better pets. Is that really true?
People all over the world have a popular dog breed, the mutt. It was made way back in the day when wolves roamed the ground. The mutt is a very loving and helpful dog. I have know mutts that are more well trained and more well behaved then a $800 lil purebred. It depends on the OWNER. Don't hit your dogs, yell at them and curse when it is YOU who should be yelling at YOU. Dogs who are misbehaved are misunderstood. They need love, attention, shelter, food, water and most importantly discipline. If you don't take the time out the day then you can't expect the time of day for him to behave. Some have it lucky they find a stray maybe buy a dog and it be the perfect little angel its whole life. Good for them. Not all dogs are like that and can be expected to like that. All of the are different. Ah um. I will continue this later when I can stay on topic. Sorry but some dog owners make me blow my top.
Okay so here the end is in another hub I am currently doing a experiment. That hub will be ready around March 20Th. Right now I am going to use the same dogs for a different experiment. Her name is Twilight and His name is Turbo. I am using 2 purebred males and females and 2 male and female mutts to have accurate results. I have asked my good friend, Dan Brutsche take these dogs I have hand picked and train them to the best ability he can. He is Professional Dog Trainer, this can not be done by average people, for the correct results. He has taken these dogs for 2 months. Over this period of time he will take the 4 dogs and exercise them regularly, same distance, he will feed them the same amount of diet. They will receive the same amount of grooming and attention. There sleeping and roaming space is measured the exact same. After he completes this everyday for 2 weeks. He will begin training. He will take 4 weeks for training using the same amount of time and treats. Once the dog masters a level, he will continue to train to the next level. If the dogs seems like he has low concentration or makes no process he will discontinue the session until the next day. He will spend 2 hours a day on each dog. Recording his results for there process.
He came to the conclusion that since I had Corgis which were working dogs, the mutts would have to be mixed with corgis to make the results more modified. So we happily found or mixed mutts a home. Soon enough we found 2 Pembroke welsh corgi mixes. They were mixed with beagle. We then started the process all over again. He came to love the dogs, their names are Mac and Mackenzie. He found them in a news paper for free, totally unrelated. He did his period of two weeks were they were all treated the same. Exercised, feed and water the same amount for 2 weeks. Why 2 weeks you ask? To make sure they all have the same balanced immune system, and the same energy needed. All the dogs needs have been met. It takes two weeks to make sure it is totally balanced like it should be. If the dog was totally off balance then it would take the full 2 weeks to get it balanced out. Anyways, he soon begin training after 2 balanced weeks of buying the dogs. Mac and Mackenzie did show more progress of training within the first week of training. They quickly learned Sit, Down, Stay, and come. Twilight and Turbo learned at a the same pace, but it took much more perseverance for Dan to pursue training. They were a little more hard headed he said, and they got distracted too easily. The mutts were right on cue, waiting for something new. On the second week of training the dogs seemed to understand more. They started getting on routine and new what was expected of them. He soon taught them more commands including leave it, drop it, get it, guard it, watch it and "fonien" which means to chase after an animal until they can get it and hold it perfectly still standing by it's self. (Corgis are suppose to be easy to train this, seeing how they are a cattle dog) It teaches them that when an animal is in front of it to stop it and hold it in one spot so the cowboy can come rope it. For little dogs this is a big accomplishment. On small commands as sit, down, come, stay, beg, leave it and drop it the mutts blew the chart, they loved doing it. The purebreds seem to have learned the commands just not at a high pace, and then they learned the Cattle commands quickly.
So Is it true? Purebreds are smarter? Or is mutts smarter? In this project we can surely say that Mutts learn faster. Purebreds learn slowly but are very flexible, their are many things you can teach them. My personal opinion is mutts are smarter, but it is your call.
Thanks, Ashley
UPDATE:After two weeks since I last wrote, we have not trained any of the dogs in any way. Today Dan came to see which one remembered their commands promptly. The mutts out beat the purebreds by 4 commands, that they purebreds could not recall.
