Why Consider Retriever Rescue to Adopt a Dog

Love golden retrievers and might want to adopt a dog? Consider the Golden Retriever Rescue Organizations located all over the US. Learn how to find a golden retriever near you and why this may be the best way ever to adopt a dog.

Breeders are expensive. Pet shops are very risky. The Retriever Rescue Organizations CARE! They care about the dogs and about matching them to the best homes for both the dog and the owners. Adopting a dog in this way may take more time initially, but will cost less money and be much less risky than a pet shop.

Retriever Rescues will release a dog only when they feel the dog is ready for a permanent home. They will divulge all known information with you about the dog's health and past history.

To adopt a dog, you will be asked to fill out an application first. There is a careful screening process which includes at least one home visit. Those willing to accept older dogs may finalize the process quickly, whereas there may be a long wait for a small puppy. A visit to the website will show you which dogs are currently available for adoption.

Any Reason NOT to Rescue a Golden?

Yes.  Contact a rescue only when you are ready and committed to be a forever home for a golden. Do not consider adopting a golden if:

  • You are a couch potato and hope your dog might be same.
  • You hope that tiny puppy will always remain tiny.
  • You are a neat freak and cannot stand dog hair.
  • You think a dog might be a good babysitter for your kids.
