Purr Love

Well, it is now 5 weeks since little Ms Smoky Mama graced our home with her five small bundles of love. Boy, that sure is a syrupy sentence, isn't it? But, I cannot help myself...these fascinating and energetic little beings are a sight to behold and a joy to be around.

Kittens are everywhere! climbing whatever surface is available, rolling around on the floor, each other and ever patient Smoky....chasing tails and dust bunnies and ghosts! The room which is their own is a constant source of unbridled energy and movement. Smoky jumps to higher levels just to escape the chaotic scene...but, soon enough, the babies will be able to reach her in her lofty perch.

Feeding time is wonderful! I mix tasty tuna juice or canned food with Blue kibbles for Mama and the same mixture with kitten kibble for the little ones who are eating hard foods half the time. Still, of course, they return to mother's milk for that added boost of nutrition and comfort. Tiny paws kneeding, little bodies strewn about over Smoky's, the larger the kittens grow; the funnier is the feeding frenzy ala Mama Smoky!

This is just a short hub to keep everyone updated. The kittens are more beautiful than ever, I'm feeding Smoky three, four and five times daily just to keep up with the demands of her family; making sure that Smoky is never under nourished.

All is well in Kitty City.

I really want to thank everyone who has left the wonderful and encouraging comments to the former stories in this series about the adopted and very pregnant Smoky. I appreciate your visits and fabulous words. I am always pleased and uplifted by all the love that comes through to this hub and these beautiful family members. Please know, that in the very limited time I have at present; I am forever thankful for your "presence" here on HP's

I love your updates! They're so precious. Voted up and across the board. When you say in your "limited time," what exactly do you mean? I know you're going to move at some point, but won't we still see you on here???? I sure hope so!

Thanks for the update! I have to admit that when I started reading this hub I got so distracted by all of the pictures that I had to go back and read the text last! LOL The kittens are adorable and Smoky Mama looks like a great mother.

Your hub made me grin from ear to ear. Thank you! :)

Hi Kathy,

Beautiful photos as ever - they are so happy and lively it's a joy to see animals in the state that they should be!

Don't you worry about all us at HubP's we know the work that you are doing is vital and Smokey and her kitties need you.

We look forward to hearing from you when time allows. Take care - and remember to keep your own nourishment up as well, that's a heck of an energy used up to look after all these beautiful kitties! Take care and look forward to hearing from you as and when! Helen.

Kathy, again what beautiful pictures. I know that they're even cuter in reality.

Im surprised you have any time at all with your little babies.

Your house must be a truly happy and chaotic one. I envy you. I would love to have such a house.

Thank God we have people like you in this world Kathy.

Keep us posted and up-to-date with their growth and progress. Will you be keeping them?

They're so cute! The little white and gray one is my pick, although i could never have it. I had an alergy that just wouldn't go away. I finally saw a Dr. and was found to be allergic to cats. I couldn't believe it. I don't have one but my Sister Mary has her precious Kitty Cat (Kitty Cat is it's name. ) I see my Sis all the time, so i have to figure out what to do. I start on injections this Tuesday, hopefully the allergy will take a hike...Thank you..Loved the pictures...

What darling little bundles of joy! I remember when my mother had 5 little kittens in her home for a time and what excitement they brought into the house. Enjoy!

Oh, Kathy, how they are growing! They have no idea how fortunate they are to have you and Al. If I lived closer, I'd have to try to claim one--alas, I can't even do it here right now! Love the updates and the pics both!

Oh my, I must hold one! Kathy these babies are so special and so adorable! I am so glad that you are providing these updates so I can see them grow.... Happy, healthy and loved. Makes me so grateful that you and Al care for these guys and so many more. I worry so much about all the pets that have no home at all, but must focus instead on doing the best I can, 1 kitten at a time, promoting spaying and neutering and thanking people like you!

Sharyn and Gail..there's nothing cuter than kittens and sweeter than watching Smoky with her kits. I haven't seen them for over a week, now..I'm sure they've gotten so much bigger. I have pics I took the night before I flew out but haven't posted yet.

Will soon. thank you for stopping by.

Kittens sure grow fast. It's fun to see kittens when their so little, but it's nice to see them grown up, too.

Hi my friend Teylina! Oh, so late in replying...sorry!!! Hey, these babies are now almost fully grown; they are beautiful and I brought Smokey Mama, her two older kittens and the 5 in these stories with me to California. They're living in their own cottage along w/several other rescue kitties. They have an outside cattery and all the comforts of home. I am very happy...Thank you, my friend, for your visit.

Hey! Those kittens are adorable. I'm getting a 5

week old kitten really soon. I didn't realize how

tiny they are! Smokey Mama is one lucky kitty!

Hi ChiaKitty! I 'm so happy to hear that you are adopting a kitten. Here is a little help to make sure your baby fares well: At Walmart or Walgreens or our local Veterinarian's office, you can purchase milk replacer which is very high in nutrition and all the ingredients kittens receive from mama cat. Mostly, I'd say allow the kitten to remain w/mother cat for another week , if at all possible. Six weeks is usuallly whenn kittens are separated from mother. (this always breaks my heart..which is why, YIKES!, I have so many...plus no one else wanted them...anyway..I digress). Good for you. You will love that kitten and this will add so much love to your life over many years. The milk replacer is liquid...just like mama's milk. Also, dry kitten formula is higher protein which is what kittens require. Good luck and thank you so much...I am so happy to hear that another little furry one will have a loving, excellent home. Any questions, ever...do not hesitate to ask. Kathy

They are so cute! I love cats. We lost one of ours recently sadly, however still have a manic kittie who thinks she is still a kitten.
