There goes that Girl

Her Mission of Love

There goes that girl, red-haired and fair

On her mission, no, no, not without care

Hot enough to burn the streets but unaware

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

-----------------------------------------------

Young and old, easy to scare

Helpless and alone, they try to prepare

The streets are mean, it’s hard to share

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

--------------------------------------------------

Shelter and food, their needs glare

Hungry, most sick, losing their hair

Relentless she searches and finds a pair

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

--------------------------------------------------

When will it end, long suffering mare

Her mission not over, not without care

Life for the forgotten, no time to pare

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

-------------------------------------------------

Voices that speak with eyes warn beware

Her mission is endless, not without care

Gaining trust from abused, no time for a chair

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

---------------------------------------------------

Life is hard, but difficult to compare

On her mission, no, no, not without care

Left in a dumpster, degrees of unfair

Her beauty belies what she sees out there

---------------------------------------------------

So, there goes that girl, red-haired and fair

Pounding the pavement, not without care

Resounding a message she continues to blare

And her beauty belies what she sees out there

For God's sake, have a heart

..well I don't know what's in your water today Amy but keep drinking it - lol lol - this is another one that you have hit out of the park - I have a personal preference for storytelling as you know - as opposed to confessional or abstract poetry writing - and here again - you have told us a story in vivid breathtaking detail - touched us deeply with your sentiment -and have also sent out a message of hope .......again I love the title and again I wish I hadn't written this one myself - lol lol - it has such a nice lyrical flow I thought of someone like Joni Mitchell or Sarah McLachlan could be singing these words out in my mind ........bravo my dear and underneath that 'cowgirl' hat is sheer poetic brilliance!

Thank you my dear friend and greatest supporter! Did you recognize "Lucky Cats"? I was so moved by her latest entry, I had to write this as a tribute for all she does for defenseless animals. I love your words, Mr. C.

Thank you, Fiddleman! Do you know "Lucky Cats" here on the hub? Her last entry inspired this tribute for all she does. Thank you for stopping and commenting. As always, it inspires me onward.

..no Amy actually I didn't - but I thought of her as I read your tribute and how much that she would love it.

So that old saying - great minds think alike!!!!

And now as I read it again - it makes perfect sense!!!!

Wonderful and caring as always, if You don't spark the dead butt embers of America, along with me, well, Sistah, we know people are dead of soul. Let us hope not. Great hub.

I think, BobbiRant, that so many people are so tired and overwhelmed that it appears no one cares. But, whatever the reason apathy changes nothing and rolling over and playing dead isn't an option, because it can still get worse. Thanks for commenting BobbiRant and keep the fires burning.

Amy, Amy this is so so beautiful. You are amazingly talented. You haven't been here for a while; I haven't seen you here. I always appreciate your wonderful insight and sensitivity. I really don't know what to say about this beautiful poem. Really! Well, we keep on keepin' on, don't we? Thank you for all your honest comments and for caring as I know you do as much as I do. I know you are touched by much of the same "heartbreak" as I am. And this video...Oh My

god. HP's has been a helpful tool in finding others with similar hearts. Thank you thank you!

No, thank you, Lucky Cats, for all you do. Your beautiful babies reflect your love. I understand your disillusion in the human race, because I feel it many times. I don't think most will change their minds about thinking animals are less than humans. I know better, as does my daughter (who cares for 16 special-needs guinea pigs in a small trailer), I know you do too and I'm reading other hubbers that are involved. That is a good sign, but the reality is far too big for a few. Just know that what you are doing is helping those who cross your path have wonderful lives. My dad, who was a great humanitarian and generous to a fault even told me that you cannot take care of the whole world. Have you checked out the huge habitat for homeless animals of all varieties called "Best Friends"? It is an amazing place with acres and acres of space for horses to rehabilitate and run and all animals can live out their lives there, where they are loved, rehabilitated and given the finest, state of the art medical care in the world.
