How many people would rescue a horse if they saw it in need?

would you shelter and feed it and try and find it a long term home or new owner?

Definitely, no questions asked.  I have five acres so the means are there.  If I could not keep it I would nurse it back to health and find it a loving home.

i would take a horse in if i knew it needed a home and feeding and care. but i would not pay a rescue agency for the privlage of doing the same thing. i have been given many horses and ponies over the years that the owner either didn't want anymore or could afford to feed and take care of. The lives with me for many years. one came to me and on his initial vet appointment i was told he wouldn't live three weeks. this was in '93- the previous owner died in '97 and the vet died in '02. the pony that wasn't supposed to live three weeks died peacefully of old age in 2008 he was 40 years old and out lived his previous owner and the vet that predicted his early demise. Rescue agencies want money upfront and the right to take the horse back if they don't like something. I don't like black fence i'm taking the horse back. after you paid a grand to get the animal. no i don't think so. i will take care of unwanted horses and i will provide for them if given the opportunity but i will not be subject to someone elses opionion or whims.

If I had the means to feed and shelter a horse that needed such attention I would relish the chance to find it a better home. They're such majestic animals, truly beautiful.

    Yes.
From the past ten + years I've spent in the horse world, I've learned that most true horse people will take a horse in, even if it's only a temporary thing. A lot of the time horse people need to learn their limits of the number of horses they can keep.

I have done so and assisted with the rescue of several others in various ways.

I'm a small woman who doesn't know anything about horses, so I wouldn't even attempt it, but I'd call the RSPCA (Animal Rescue) on my mobile phone and wait with it until they arrived to rescue it.
