A little bit of baby aspirin crushed up into a powder and put on the gums helped Spudward with the pain and the fever that can get into the gums when they are teething. It doesn't take much and you can rub it on with your finger. Hold her to make sure it stays on for a few minutes.
I also froze a few rawhide bones and switched them with him every 30 minutes or so. He would chew until his mouth literally bled. I felt so sorry for him but could tell by the look on his face while he was chewing the frozen rawhide that it was helping.
At one point, I found some really cheap, non-toxic human baby teething rings and kept those in the freezer for him too. They were one time use because his sharp pointed teeth destroyed them but he seemed to really like them. I only gave those to him when it looked like he was having a really bad day with it because they were cheap but I had to buy a lot of them.
