   How do we stop people from dumping non-feral kittens and worsening the feral population?
   
   I live at the edge of town next to a farm.  People dump non-feral kittens around here they don't want.  The end result is cats not suited to go up against the already established wild barn cats.  This last batch were dumped when they were approx 6-7 months old.  It's sad because they are sweet and loving and they should have been pets, not dumped out here where they will likely die from fighting, disease etc. Now I have to spend money spaying/neutering cats I didn't ask for to prevent their spread... how do we as a society call attention to this and put a stop to it?

   This is a terrible problem and it is nearly impossible to get people to always spay and neuter their pets.  In my eyes, these are not true pet lovers. People see a cute little kitten or pupppy, take them home, the animal grows up and they do not have responsible owners.  I do believe that Purina will provide you with boxes of free food for their feral cat program, check out their website.  Also, in most states there is a program where the feral cats are live caught, neutered and spayed and placed back where they were found.  This way they live in a family group and share the bounty of their hunting success.  In my eyes, if a veterinarian truely loves animals they will give you either a reduced rate or will volunteer their time to spay and neuter these kittens.  Hell, lawyers have to donate their time each year, why can't veterinarians and doctors.

      This is the absolute WORST answer in the world. That "bounty of their success" that you talk about is your lousy invasive-species piece of sh** cats skinning-alive and disemboweling alive all our valuable native wildlife for their play toys.

      Woodsman cats are natural hunters and predators much like other animals.  It's in their nature to kill to survive.  You're killing them and preaching to someone with an actual humane idea/solution is disgusting and vile.

      Dear Woodsman001.  The fact you don't like cats is certainly your opinion and you are more than welcome to express yourself.  However, what 'valuable' wildlife are you talking about?  Mice and rats that spread diseases?  Birds that are sick?

   By getting individuals to drop animals off at the shelter or call in an animal catcher. There are probably 8 cat's in one area that no one cares about except for my partner. None of them are fixed and there have already been three litters of kittens this year. The cats just live and breed while none of the neighbors care. They just ignore the animals and move on. Some families do not even know that this is a problem. Basically, awareness.

   Educating everyone to drop off those unwanted kittens at shelters or at cat rescue groups.
   
   Cat rescue groups give the little guys a chance and they make sure they are fixed.
   
   The best part is that there is no cost to the person dropping them off...unless they want to contribute...Donations are entirely voluntary.
   
   Cat rescue groups "will even pick the kittens up gratis"...so educating the public can go a long way to preventing this totally unnecessary practice that adds to an already big problem.!
