Good question. We have nine housecat, or domesticated cats in our home. Cats can be very friendly, loving animals, and can make wonderful pets, but they require warm protection from cold weather, and enjoy cool air like we do. Outdoor cats do not usually live as long as indoor ones. Our indoor cats require litter boxes. We provide a small room for that, and the room requires daily cleaning. I do not know why some individuals do not like cats. If any animal is mistreated, or abused, struck, or hit, or yelled at, such behavior will logically affect the personality of any animal. If a dog , cat, horse, bird, or any living creature is abused , then it's behavior will involve distrust, or fear.
Cats do need to sharpen their claws. God gave them claws. Keep something in you're home that a cat can scratch on, or it may have no where to go, but at furniture.
I think when cats scratch things that people do not like scratched, this can upset people, so it is best if you have cats too provide them with scratching posts, and if you can train them, or guide them to use one , then this should help to keep them off furniture.
Some people find excuses to hate all kinds of animals. Our cats are wonderful. My very large beautiful house cat BOO lets me hug him, roll him over to rub his belly, and he Eskimo kisses me on my nose.
BOO was free. However I would not take one million dollars for him , even if the money was solid gold that came from Fort Knox.
The wonderful thing about cats is that if anyone wants a beautiful, appreciative loving cat, there are many at animal shelters waiting for wonderful homes.
Our cat GRAY FOX stands up, and gently taps my wife's elbow with her paw as if to say, : Excuse me Miss, but I would like a little of what you're having for breakfast."
I do not know why anyone would hate them. Most people like them.
God Bless You.
