Poodles can be very possesive of their owners, and over protective. They actually make wonderful guard dogs, despite their "sissy" appearance. I have owned my Standard for 8 years, and he's wonderful. But if he thinks someone is hurting me, he will growl and show his teeth in order to protect me. (He scared my father to death when he was tickling me the one night. haha) Besides this, he is always friendly and loving, and has never growled at anyone besides instances which I just covered.
Poodles are very smart animals. They were used by the airforce at one time because of their intelligence level. The AKC has ranked them the second smarted breed out of over 200 dog breeds. As a result, they need to be stimulated. Give her "puzzles", such as stuffing peanut butter into a Kong so she has to work to get it out. This may help to take her mind off of you for a little while.
