My Yorkies Kept Me Sane

Updated on March 15, 2016

My Yorkies Kept Me Sane.

After the death of my mother I felt like I just couldn't go on. This was my third family member that I have taken care of over the last nine years.

First my dad died a slow death with emphysema. Then my sister was in a car reck, which she was DOA on arrival but did make it only with severe brain damage.  She is now in a home for the rest of her life. We had just gotten her into her first home and had to go pick her up and tell her that dad had passed away. And then explain to her that our dad passed away an we are here to take you to the funeral.
Several months later my uncle moved in with my mother which every body hated this idea except me. Mom couldn't do any thing for her self. After dad was gone and the daughter in the shape she's in. She wasn't in the best of health either. She was so alone and cryed herself to sleep. I had to make out her bills make sure her medications where taken correctly. So i welcomed him because he took the load off and she wasn't alone.
Then the uncle passed away about five years after my dad. So now this left my mother alone again and was basically dieing  of emphysema just like my dad.
I ended up having to move her in my home. I didn't mind I was quit happy about it. At night we would sit and talk about every thing in life. Even death.  Both of us couldn't wait for my husband to go to bed. We sat up for hours and just talk, i felt like i needed to know every thing because i knew she was not going to be here much longer. Even after her dealth i was still thinking of things i wish i'd asked her.

After eight months she was gone now too. I just felt like I'd lost all my family at this point. All i have now is my daughter and two grandkids. I was very close to my dad but all those months of caring for mom made us even closer then ever. I had a very hard time after mom passed. I was the one in bed crying my self to sleep. This went on for several weeks. Other than losing your kids i think it's the hardest to get through losing your mother.

I had always wanted a Yorkshire Terrier and knew there was no way i could handel that along with every thing else. I finally got off my rear and started looking for my yorkie baby. This lady came in the salon and told me about a breeder that had yorkies, let me tell ya i had my 6 month old yorkie with in two weeks. His name is Sketter. He was my little guy i always wanted. My husband was so glad i did this because as he said, he see's the happy side of me coming back.

So if it were not for grandkids and my yorkies i don't know what would have happened.

I have four Yorkies, Zoie, Cowboy, Chloe, Sketter.    TOP PICTURE IS OF CHLOE AND HER BABIES MOLLY & BELLA.

They all just love so unconditionally I had to keep myself busy caring for them.
Which i still say to this day got me past a lot of what i was dealing with.
Well enough about that.

Keep on reading and enjoy learning some things maybe you didn't know or enjoy the pictures.

I get so many calls and emails asking me about web sites to go and see pictures of yorkies or about breeding them, health issues, food, how to potty train, just all kinds of questions.

So please go check out my other lens there will be so much more information about some of this. I do intend to add even more content or start another lens. that lens is http://www.squidoo.com/purebredyorkies4life. I don't know at this point how to link it for you but im getting there. When i do all my lens will be updated and any knew ones will be better.

Yorkies, Yorkies, Yorkies, OH MY!

My life with my Yorkies.

I am so glad you found your way to my page. I started this web page for a couple of reasons.

(One,) Is i would have went in sane if i wouldn't have bought Sketter, so i had to show them off and let people know how your pets can get you through a lot.

(Two,) I had to show how pretty they are and brag about them. Plus now I started breeding them. I am a hobby breeder with only a couple litters a year. I will list them to sell them to there forever loving homes. BUT, I am never in a hurry to do so. I don't care if i have to keep them little loved ones for months, they go NO WHERE until i am sure of there homes.

I will be posting pictures of each and answer any questions anyone may have. The picture to the right is my little Cowboy. Such a good boy.

(Three,) I have done several years of research on this breed and I feel I need to share this with anyone who is thinking about buying a yorkie. There is sooo much information out there that is just not at all correct. A lot of it is just to use tricky words like tea cup, designer, mini yorkies, this is just plain and simple not true. they are lien to get people to buy from them. All about the money not the love of the dog.

Zoie, Cowboy, Chloe, and Sketter. Like I said earlier I'm a very small hobby breeder of yorkies. They are raised in my home under foot, not in cages. My yorkies think they are humans not dogs. If you have never owned a yorkie you don't know what your missing.

Yorkies to me are the most beautiful breed there is. Some people say they are just barkers and i say it's how they are raised. I only have one that seems to bark at everything. My babies are very well minded. Of course two of them are show dogs. My little guy Cowboy only weighs 3 1/2 to 4 lbs, it all depends if it is winter or not. Cowboy is my little stud muffin.

Then there is my little Chloe. She weighs in at 4 lbs. Now Chloe is my little tattle tail. If one of the other dogs are eating out of her bowl she will come to me and bark and bark until I make them get away. She is sooo spoiled. Duh, maybe it has to do with her being daddies little girl.

Pictured above is My Sketter. He is neutered, I have had him for a long time. Sketter was six months old like i had said earlier when I bought him. Now you talk about being smart, he can do tricks that no one believes unless we show them.

We actually have to spell around him. If my hubby or I say the words truck, by by, trash, store, he gets all worked up and starts barking, and won't stop because he knows he is going to go. It is totally amazing how smart they are.

Sketter can even SING now. I am going to try to post the video here because i know people will love it and also to show the ones that don't believe me.

Last but not least is my baby girl Zoie. Zoie just had a litter of three boy's an one girl. Cowboy is the daddy. Zoie is not much of a player. She'd rather sit by you and love on you. If you don't give her the loving she will stick her head under your arm pits or where ever she can to get you to love on her. Zoie had a boy on her last heat and I still have him. He is now 10 months old. I didn't even try to sell him because the hubby got so attached to him. But, now I am going to sell him. As much as I'd like to keep them all, It's just not possible. Plus I have this litter of four and him to. That's just to much. This pup is from Zoie's last litter and he is so lovable I don't think he has a mean bone in his body. I actually let him out to play with the five week old puppies. I'm thinking maybe he's like that because he was the only one in the litter, so he didn't have to fight for alpha place an what not. He's potty trained and is just a nice pleasure to have around. I'm sure going to miss him. But I know the family to where he will go, they will just go goo goo over him. That makes me happy.

Every little one I have brought into this world I keep up with them. I also made friends with them and can go see them any time i want. Some even bring them back to me so i can keep them groomed up. I love to groom the yorkies. I am a hair stylist by trade so i guess it gives me an upper hand on how to do it.

I have had so many calls and emails about my yorkies so that just goes to show im doing a pretty good job. Or maybe it's in my head ha.

Maybe I'll do a page on just nothing but sites to see. I would be here for weeks.

Below is my baby girl Chloe remember she is my little tattle tail. She is so sweet but like all females she has her spells of PMS to. Females what there loving when they are ready. The males want the loving all the time non stop.

These books are some of the best. The author's write very informative and well educated in the Yorkshire Terriers and other breeds. Any book you chose for which ever subject you will be very satisfied.

If you could and the yorkie was of the standard by AKC. Some one gave you the yorkie or asked a good price on one.

Would you own a Yorkshire Terrier?
