When you get a tongue piercing,can you ask the piercer if he/she will put in a clear barbell instead

Hi, You can get a PTFE barbell-it's clean line fishing line, but the balls are usually steel. You can't put clear acrylic balls on a steel shaft when you get a new piercing. They can't be autoclaved.
New tounge piercing barbells are extra long because your tongue swells. You won't be able to hide it at first. Plus you will talk funny the first day. They WILL notice.
