10 How-Tos for Mother's Day Gifts

Once again, it’s time for Mother’s Day gifts, or Father‘s Day, Christmas, Chanukah, if not a birthday or anniversary of something - these inexpensive handmade gifts can be made for anyone, but for the sake of this article it’s all about Mom.


We all, as adults, begin at some point to wonder what Mom wants on Mother‘s Day, rather than go get something we want for her, or spend money on something she later puts in her yard sale. And right now we’re in a global recession on the brink of depression, and any gifts can be hard to come up with.


Usually by the time the kids are grown ups who are shopping for her, Mom’s got all the main ‘stuff’ (bread maker, vases, sculptures) already, and even in good economic times it can be hard to come up with something nice that she will value and want to use, and even more so if the amazing gift must be hand made. Some totally unique stuff is required for Ma, now.


Sure, she says all she wants is ‘you there for dinner at 4,’ but secretly, every mom hopes she gets a nice surprise on Mother’s Day. Not an expensive present, mind you, but a pleasant surprise; the two can be one and the same and yet worlds apart in theory, reality, and cost.
