Thanks Wilbart26, your comment is appreciated. I love movie posters and I thought I'd start a series of themed poster galleries.

Great job here, Steve. I love these posters (and of course the movies too). A couple of those early tag lines are pretty funny -- my favorite is OHMSS "Far Up! Far Out! Far More!" Bill Gold's sexy geometric design for "You Only Live Twice" is quite a departure, especially after "Moonraker." I'm not sure I like the "Skyfall" poster all that much, but I'm eagerly awaiting the movie.

Hey thanks Brian, appreciate the comment. Hopefully the Skyfall poster is only a teaser and we'll get the official poster near the release date.

From The Living Daylights onwards they started using photos for their posters and stopped employing artists.

I enjoyed viewing the Bond posters through the years. It is interesting to see how the posters have changed over the years. During the Connery years they are really artwork while the later years they look more like a "head shot" of the current Bond.....no imagination in the current ones. Voted up and very interesting.

Thanks Bruce, much appreciated. I agree, modern posters are now a lazy mishmash of head shots, the artistry is gone.

btw I've added IMDB ratings to each film because it gives an interesting at-a-glance view of which Bond films are best liked by the average film fan.

From what I can see Casino Royale 2006 is no.1 followed by Goldfinger. The lowest rated from the official Bonds is Die Another Day. The lowest overall - Casino Royale 1967. So the two Casino's are at opposite ends of the chart. :)

I love these movie poster hubs! I was never a huge Bond fan until Daniel Craig came on board in Casino Royale. I know the purists will choose Sean Connery, but Craig is the best Bond for my money.

Connery fan here, well I grew up with the early Bonds. But I really like Daniel Craig too though Quantum of Solace was a step down from Casino Royale. Looking forward to Skyfall.

Thanks for commenting thatmovieguy71.

I think the IMDB rating adds to the hub, you should continue it in future hubs. Casino Royale(1967) needs to be rated even lower...lol.

Hey Bruce they were a little too generous with the 1967 Casino Royale rating, maybe they were Peter Sellers fans? :)

Flora Breen Robison 4 years ago

Another hub that is great fun and I want to comment on tonight. (see bottom of comment for explanation of my weird behaviour)

Bond...James Bond...fun fun fun

I have already mentioned which films I have seen and which I haven't. There has been no change in my total since I saw the TV movie on Youtube thanks to your link.

I agree with Cogerson, I love the imdb ranks being included.

I have a book of movie posters-each film represented from the Brosnan era and back to Connery's start as that was when the I got it at an exhibit of James Bond memorabilia that was in Vancouver shortly after Die Another day was released. The posters for the exhibit actually had the P.B. sillohette (spelling?) on the tickets, posters, everything because no one knew he wuold be replaced at that time.

I saw I have it-but I neglected who bought it for me. My dad took me and spoiled me.

I attended the exhibit in Vancouver. He bought me the book, a t-shirt, a cd of The Best of James Bond music, and perhaps because the 007 logo was on it so it looked cool though I don't drink and neither does he unless at a wedding or new years and then it is wine, not special...a martini glass. I will never drink a martini at a wedding. Champagne or wine-sure, a small glass. Martin? No.... I hate olives. and I did I mention I don't drink? I think I'd be light-headed very soon. Those glasses hold a lot of martini.

I have seen all the British/American posters, as far as I can remember. But the foreign language posters are new to me.

(No scary Facebook worry that someone will misunderstand my comment and I have to apologize for something unintended or they want me to thank them RIGHT NOW for sending a sympathy card at 4am in the most public way possible-see! I sent you a card! Aren't I the best? Say thankyou in front of the whole world!)

(Don't ask, but I am an inch away from blocking a person who actually used to be a great friend of mine until I left HP and couldn't get updates about him daily so he wanted me to talk on FB every day or he thinks I am ignoring him-you don'y care if I acknowledge things that second. Someone thinks this sympathy is a contest for the most understanding)

Hello Flora, enjoyed the comment and anecdote, much appreciated.

No Martini? Shaken or stirred? :)
