Steve, I'd be happy to have any of these on my walls - some really great ones, 'I Confess', 'North By Northwest', 'Rope' and 'Psycho', the drawn look of the 'Mr and Mrs Smoth' is quite fun isn't it. I think Cary Grant was a bit of a poser!

Hello Jools, thanks for commenting on my Hitchcock gallery, it is appreciated. Yeah Cary was an old pro at that sort of thing.

I avoided the more well known posters to many of these films and went with some colourful European versions instead. The poster to Marnie is um interesting, what is Bond doing?! :)

With you and Flora being such big Hitchcock fans, I have noticed that I have been on a Hitchcock movie kick for the last 10 months or so. I counted the movies that I have watched or re-watched over that time frame while looking at the posters. I have watched 17 of movies during that time frame...not too bad for a Hitchcock novice compared to the two of you.

I liked seeing the foreign posters for some of the movies. I would say my favorites posters would be Lifeboat and The Lady Vanishes. While Paradine Case does not even look like Gregory Peck at all.....a nice addition to your movie poster series.

Thanks again Bruce. The foreign posters are great, Belgian posters are highly rated by poster fans for their artwork.

Looking at the IMDB ratings, we have a tie! Rear Window and Psycho with 8.7 each, followed by North by Northwest and Vertigo.

Hitch is still hugely popular, I mean how many other director's get so many films rated 7.5 and over?

A great visual hub! Movie poster art has always been an affinity of mine.

Thanks thatmovieguy71, glad you liked the hub. I'm working on the 4th poster hub, another famous director.

He is very popular, of the hubs that I have written his hub sits at #7 out of 140 hubs. Once again the IMDB ratings coming in useful.

Steve Lensman profile image

Steve Lensman 4 years ago from London, England Author

Your Hitchcock hub is the 7th most viewed, that is impressive Bruce. So many people know the name Hitchcock, some of his films and what he looks like too. Anthony Hopkins is playing him in an upcoming movie.

Flora Breen Robison 4 years ago

Oh, this is one hub I simply must make time for right now. ;) (I'm readin more than writing). I just made a comment about liking things that are silly right now on mckbirdbks cafe hub-not upsetting. However- I also like Hitchcock films! A topic which is totally unrealistic most of the time in outlandish fashion. Some movies could happen like I confess or the based on tru story The Wrong Man. But films like NByNW simply won't happen in real life. Fantasy land!

I will make only one post here however-same as your other hubs in the series as there are so many of them and I would like to say something on all of them eventually that is meaningful-no "great hub" and that is it.

Some of these posters I have seen before and some are new to me. I bet you had fun trying to decide which ones to showcase for films where you had multiple choices.

There are only a handful of films of his that I am yet to see and none of them are the films you have represented. There are a few pre-Lodger films and films in between Blackmail and the first The man Who Knew Too much that you have not included-rare, non suspense films like Juno and the Paycock. and I am guessing you were choosing only mystery/suspense films. No JATP allowed! :)

I cannot decide what posters I like the best as far as artwork is concerned. Of course I am attracted to Gregory Peck...

Navneet, thanks for your comment.

Hi Flora, I knew you'd like this topic. :) I didn't include some of Hitch's rarely seen older films because finding posters for them was nearly impossible and I didn't want to use photos.

It was fun choosing which posters to use but also frustratng because some films had many great posters to choose from. I thought of using two posters on some films but it would spoil the layout.

Thanks both for posting.

Hi Steve; A fun hub. I love looking at old movie posters. The history of film and the development of the way they advertise them (like the way trailers have changed over the years) is fascinating to me.

Nice work,

Rob

Hello Rob, good to see you again. Thanks for commenting on my poster hub. Movie posters have always fascinated me, when I was young I was always walking over to my local cinema just to stare at the posters and lobby cards.
