Steve, loved the first one, Sunset Boulevard. These posters kind of show their age but that's what's so great about them.

Another cracker :o)

Rob, Jools. thanks for commenting, much appreciated.

Rob, fun and fascinating too.

Jools, that Sunset Boulevard poster is a classic, had to put it first. I always think of the first image in my hubs as the cover of a book.:)

Hi Steve, and what a great hub this is. ...reminds me of a large portrait my Mom's doctor has in his waiting room. The portrait shows all of the films that have won Oscars from 1940 to 2001. A few years ago I told him he needed to update the portrait to reflect current Oscar winners ;-)

Voted up

John

Thats a great idea for a giant wall poster John, a gallery of small posters of all the Best Picture winners.

These hubs are fun to compile and there are hundreds of topics to choose from. Whenever I need a break from my usual movie hubs I'll be posting one or two of these.

Thanks for commenting amigo.

Billy Wilder was a Hollywood force for so many years. Very interesting to see how the poster went from the early 1940s to the early 1980s. I would say my favorite Wilder movies are Double Indemnity, One Two Three, and Stalag 17. I have never been much of a Some Like It Hot or Sunset Blvd fan...but I realize they are classic movies that are loved by many.

As for the best posters....give me Seven Year Itch and the Lost Weekend as my favorites from this hub.

I guess this is the last of this series for awhile as you concentrate on the 2nd Star Wars trilogy.....voted up and fun.

Yes I'm rummaging through my photos of Jar Jar Binks at the moment. Someone has to do it.

Some Like it Hot has always been my fave Billy Wilder movie, I should do a hub on it one day, oh wait I did! :)

Stalag 17 is another film I've watched too many times.

Wilder disliked Marilyn Monroe but admitted "She has a certain indefinable magic that comes across, which no other actress in the business has.” He added. “They've tried to manufacture other Marilyn Monroe's and they will undoubtedly keep trying. But it won't work. She was an original."

Thanks for commenting Bruce, always appreciated.
