AKKKKKKKkkkkkk! I'm gett'n old! I've viewed nearly every movie you have shown in your posters here. I bet most who read this will not have seen a big bunch of these. I enjoyed this very much. You have this laid out beautifully and it is easy to understand. Keep up the great HUBS. I gotta give this an Up ONE AND BEAUTIFUL. I'm now your fan!

Thanks Reynold Jay, really appreciate the comment and kind words.

There are a few here I haven't seen including The Great Ziegfeld, Cabin in the Sky, Weekend in Havana and The Jolson Story. I'm a big fan of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and I've seen most of their films, Judy Garland too.

Well you know I am not much of a musical movie fan...but since the influence of you and Flora....I am happy to say that I have seen 17 of the movies listed in this hub. I can thank my Fred Astaire movie marathon for many of that 17.

The Jolson Story is one of my mom's favorites of all-time...when she goes on trips with us....this movie has played in the car everytime.....when loading up the van....we have include Pixar movies for the kids and The Jolson Story for my mom.

I liked the Flying Down To Rio poster.....it is amazing that Rogers and Astaire barely got on the poster at all.....but I think the producers realized their star power...as the last scene in the movie is Rogers and Astaire....not the top billed stars.

As always I enjoyed viewing all of this classic posters....I am sharing with my mom and a former Hubber who loves these types of movies.

Thanks for commenting on my Musicals hub Bruce, appreciated as always. Share away I'm easy. :)

Getting these together has got me in the mood to watch a few happy bubbly musicals.

I had to remove a few films and keep the list to 50 musicals and one poster for each film. Some of the missing film posters will turn up when I do hubs for the individual actors.

I like that Flying Down to Rio poster too and I'm glad it was the first film on the list.

Thanks for posting!

You have many interesting musicals. I am Cogerson's mom and he is right that I like The Al Jolson Story and Jolson Sings Again. I have both of these movies and I see them once again on trips in the van. I share time with the little granddaughters and me.....Thanks for such interesting information - Cogerson forwarded it along to me. My mother was born in Manchester, England and moved to Montreal, Canada many many years ago. THANKS AGAIN.

Thank you Cogerson's mom, appreciate the comment. Your award-winning son has commented on nearly all my hubs and I am grateful really I am. :)

Jolson Sings Again was one of the films that didn't make the 50, with so many films to choose I didn't want to add sequels, I don't think there's a single sequel on here.

Bruce has English ancestry, he should watch more films from Olde Englande, it's only right. :)

Thanks for posting.

Wow, that was a trip! I've actually seen a few of these. Ginger Rogers was always my Dad's favorite (wonder why?). I've always been in love with Gene Kelly.

Perhaps you could answer a question for me - how is that Esther Williams did all that swimming and still manage to keep her makeup and hair perfect?

Voted up and well done!

I know what they mean but if movies reflected reality they would be dull and depressing, musicals are an escape, a fantasy.
