Afghan Girl With Green Eyes
Afghan Girl with Green Eyes
The photo of the Afghan girl with green eyes by Steve McCurry first appeared on the cover of National Geographic magazine in 1985. Seventeen years later McCurry returned to Afghanistan and succeeded in locating the woman he had photographed so memorably as a girl. She remembered being angry at being photographed by McCurry for the first time in her life. But she allowed him to photograph her again. The two photos are linked below.
The rest of the photographs on this Hub are my own. Since I was my high school yearbook photographer portrait photography has interested me. I suppose it's impudent of me to invite comparison of my portraits with the Afghan Girl which may well be the most popular photographic portrait of all time. Oh well!
