A lot of my favourites are up there Mhatter99, especially Japanese anime, there were a few more good ones I didn't include like - Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Vampire Hunter D and Venus Wars. I may do an anime poster hub some day.

Thanks for posting!

Steve...Can't say too many of these rings a bell for me....but I'd bet the animated movies between '75 & '85, my sons would have seen and remember well. In the small village they were raised (as I was, a generation before them) was a THEATER.....every Saturday was the matinee for children, 5 to young teen- type movies. We lived within walking distance. ONE dollar apiece, off they would go every Saturday. 50 cents admission and 50 cents for both popcorn and candy!! HA! No, I'm not making this up!! I want the old days back. ..............UP+++

50 cents admission... wow! Buying a box of popcorn now costs more than an entire family's cinema outing a few decades ago. . I remember wanting to buy a small bottle of mineral water at the cinema last year and was shocked at the price, a coke or pepsi cost less than the water for chrissakes! If they could charge us for the air we breathe they would.

Thanks as always for commenting Paula, much appreciated.

Hi Steve. Nice mix here. I was afraid I was going to see a solid list of Disney stuff. I haven't seen some (half?) of these but I do remember seeing LOTR by Bakshi-- and how disappointed I was. I figured they'd never be able to film a decent LOTR, so animation would have to take up the challenge. It did and it failed miserably. Thank god for Peter Jackson.

Yeah Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings disappointed many because it didn't complete the story, we did not see the Ring destroyed. Bakshi took a gamble that the film would be successful enough to warrant a sequel but it wasn't. Peter Jackson took that gamble too and at enormous cost but it paid off, Fellowship was a massive hit.

But Bakshi has a cult following and I'm a bit of a fan too, he directed the first X-rated animated movie and his films made excellent use of rotoscoping, they were a good antidote to the usual Disney stuff.

Thanks for commenting Dave!

Sound great posters on some great animated movies. I would say Heavy Metal(is that on blu-ray yet?) , Fire and Ice, American Pop, and The Wizards are my favorite ones in the hub....granted these days my little kids seem to always go for the Fox and the Hound and The Rescuers movies...but late at night when they are slipping.....say good night Walt Disney and hello Ralph Bakshi. Voted up and interesting.....44 chapters....only 56 to go.

Thanks for commenting on my animation hub Bruce, much appreciated.

I remember watching Fire & Ice many times on video decades ago, Frazetta art in motion! Heavy Metal was another favourite.

Highest rated movies on this page are all Japanese anime - Grave of the Fireflies, followed by My Neighbor Totoro and my favourite... Akira.

Highest rated Disney animation is The Little Mermaid.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks again Rob, yep I had to include some anime. I became a fan after seeing Akira in 1990.

OK you got me there are a couple I don't recognize. And that's saying something. But after viewing this page I have them marked down and will be adding them to my viewing history. Thanks for the list of animation to add to my viewing collection.
