Art-Photos and insight from Justin and Tom

Hi, welcome to our blog. My name is Tom and Justin is my son. I attended photography school many years ago, so I will be showing you many interesting photos from all those years. Everything from black and white artsy type shots to concert photos and regular life photos of people, places and things. Justin graduated from art school and is very gifted in all aspects of art, from a basic line drawing to acrilic and oils on canvas to computer art with vectored images done totally by hand in Corel. Some of these images have taken as much as 23 hours to produce. Justin has been doing good art since he was very young and you'll be seeing that art in addition to his latest work which includes some pretty amazing stuff. We're from Cincinnati, so we'll be not only showing you art and photos we'll be ranting about various things that both amuse us and make us sick. I hope you like what we're doing and if the rants get too crazy just check out the beauty of the images. Thanks for giving us a shot and check back for what hopefully will be a fun time. Tom and Justin Kistner

Nice collection of photos and art. I like the sunset watercolor and the vectors. The photos of Shubert Theatre are interesting, I have some photos of buildings that have been demolished and there is something special about them.

Wow, very creative and artistic. Tell him I'm a real fan :) The sun and smile at the back of the van made me smile, too. That's so sweet! The vectored Afgan girl is my fave. Could he do me one? hehe Excellent photos!

twentyfive, I will tell him for sure. I've been working on a hub about the stuff we're doing now (printing, painting and gilding ceramic and marble tiles) so I'm pretty stoked about this venture. I'm not sure what you're asking about him doing one for you? One of her or one of you? We always do stuff for people, that art of George Willie was sent to his daughter and his daughter-in-law and strangely enough her husband name was Justin. Good to hear from you, take care. Peace!!

I love the purple effects on the lighthouse painting, and also Justin's watercolor of the sunset. You guys are very talented. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work. My husband's all time favorite band is ELP, we saw them live several times, but once with Rick Wakeman (if he was in ELP, you know how these things fade, lol) There's an old stadium in NJ called Roosevelt Stadium, and at once concert there in the 80's, apparently somebody got killed, and there were never concerts there again. But we had some good times. I always liked Pirates.

justom profile image

justom 3 years ago from 41042 Author

Thanks Jean, the lighthouse was a photo that I fooled around with in the digital darkroom (a program :-). It's lot more fun than the limitations of the old darkroom I used to use. I saw ELP maybe 3 or 4 times but once when they did only a handful of shows with a 60 piece orchestra. Wakeman was with YES but these photos were with another band (a solo project). That's weird, I was at the Who show in Cincinnati where 11 people were killed, I did a hub about it. I can't pick one over another but I'm kind of like that with stuff I like.

Jean Bakula profile image

Jean Bakula 3 years ago from New Jersey

Ah Yes! I didn't think it was ELP. It was also the last concert Wakeman played with Yes not that you triggered my memory cells!

It used to be video games with my son, until he decided to start a band. He began with keyboards, and of course, since we have the smallest house, they always practiced here. They were awful. He's out of college now and substitute teaching, but has his foot in the door of a school district close by. He learned guitar, and thankfully likes classic rock. He has a band with the guys in his Martial Arts school, but it's a surf band, like the Dick Dale or Hawaii 5 o theme. So that's not hard to take either.

What an incredible collection of photo's and artwork. I loved it all but the lighthouse paintings are amazing. I also really enjoyed the old rock and roll shots of some of my favorite bands. Fun and creative hub. Hit many buttons and voted up.

justom profile image

justom 3 years ago from 41042 Author

Thanks Twiner :-) You're the 2nd person to think the lighthouse is a painting. Maybe I need to have Justin paint it. It's actually a photo I took on vacation in Maine (this lighthouse is in Canada though). The rock and roll photos are from some of the many, many concerts I've attended starting in '66. Glad you enjoyed the hub!!

Wow~I did think it was a painting. I guess I need to say great photo! It would make an incredible painting too. If he Justin ends up painting it, please share it with us. There is something so charming about a lighthouse and more so in a painting.

    Finished and Starting

Well I finally got this thing going today. It's my first attempt at trying to put a blog together so hang with me and I'll sure try to keep it up to date and interesting. Lots going on right now, it's Spring, March Madness (for those who care, I do), the start of Baseball, the start of the concert season with some real good music coming to the Cincinnati  area. I'll have more about these things and probably some interesting rants about life (or the lack thereof). Let's just try to have some fun and see what happens. Later!!

    Navajo Code

The above vectored art of Cpl. Alfred Peaces is part of a great story about a group of Native Americans that served their country honorably and got thrown to the side of the road. Type them into your browser for a most interesting story. Navajo code for God Bless America (Diyin God Baahózhó Nihimá Bikéyah Nízhoníye)!

    More Photos

I'm going to try to get up some more photos today. It's a cool rainy day here and it's hard to get going. I'm not complaing after the crap winter we just got through. The 5th of April is right around the corner and that's a huge day in the Cincinnati area. It's opening day for baseball. The Findlay Market is, I believe, the oldest outdoor market in Ohio and every year there is a parade to celebrate the start of the Reds season. It starts at the market and ends going through the Great American Ballpark, there are always some cool things going on with the parade. Last years grand marshall was former Reds GREAT Frank Robinson and it included a few of the players from the old Negro Lg's and a couple of Tuskegee Airmen. This year Johnny Bench is doing the honors and I think I'll be attending, if you are familiar with this area you'll know what I'm talking about. I'll also be uploading some photos from a Reds game last year with the Chicago White Sox. An important game as it was the Civil Rights Game and featured honorees M. Ali, B. Cosby and H. Aaron. It was Frank Robinson day and the 1st 10,000 fans got a replica jersey with his name and #. There was rumor that Obama would be throwing out the 1st pitch, but the most annoying thing to me is he didn't choose to show up. The 1st black president and he couldn't take the time for an event that was supposed to be statement of unity. Sorry, I'll get off the soap box. Hope you enjoy our hub and please keep in mind anything you see on here is available for purchase as a glossy print and some as waterslide decal and others as a t-shirt. If you're interested just ask, Justin is also available for any type art projects you need. He graduated form art school with a degree in Graphic Design. Comission him to do everything from a painting to a drawing and even color seperations for print ads or t-shirts. He does it all so please don't be shy if you need some help. Peace!!
