Japanese Cherry Blossom Theme
Cherry Blossom Theme
The Japanese Cherry Blossom tree has proven to be a popular design choice all over the world in modern society. It has pretty pink flowers and long thin branches and is a beautiful pattern to use from wallpaper prints to tattoos.
Ideas
Cherry blossom is a great wedding theme if you are getting married. It blossoms in the spring, from late February to early June which is a good time of year to be wed.
Using Cherry Blossom on your invites is not only attractive but quite different. For the wedding itself, the main flowers in the bride's bouquet would be the blossom with added hints in the maid of honor's bouquet. Other spring flowers in white would be an added compliment as long as they didn't overpower the delicateness of the pink petals. Sprigs of cherry Blossom as buttonholes for the groom and best man will carry on the theme, with pale pink cravats. This in turn should match the bridesmaid's or maid of honor's dress.
The tables at the reception would be laid out to subtly hint at the design. Center pieces would naturally include cherry blossoms. White table cloths and pink napkins would be perfect, and white and pink sugared almonds would make lovely favors to accessorize places. Then of course there is the cake.
A three tier wedding cake with a cherry blossom tree 'growing' up the side, made out of sugar icing is an impressive sight. So much so, I would love to have one for my wedding next year. There are so many designs to choose from and some are more detailed than others. You could go low key and have a single cake with the design on the top, or go for a plain white cake and have cupcakes with iced Cherry Blossoms on.
Jewelry
The Cherry Blossom design looks great as pieces of jewelry. Silver bracelets or necklaces with little flowers made of pink crystals or beads are stunning and effective. It can be used as earrings or hair accessories for everyday or going out in the evening, as long as it is classy and subtle, especially for grown ups.
Candles and Household Items
You can buy some gorgeous things for your home, or even make your own. Candles with the blossom tree or plates and cups done tastefully can look fabulous in your dining room. As long as you do not use it for everything.
If you just want one piece then invest in a vase or bowl and place it on the table, or where guests are likely to see it.
Using Cherry Blossom for interior design is effective if used as an 'accent'. For the room you intend to decorate, use a white paint with a hint of pink throughout. Choose your feature wall and use a quality wallpaper with the cherry blossom design you like. Try to choose one that doesn't look too 'busy', and you want to aim for a fresh modern look, rather than a flowery old fashioned look.
If you are a budding artist, then why not make your own prints for the wall. Get yourself three small square canvases and paint a tree on each. You could place them next to each other in the hallway of your home, or going up the stairs. If you are not so confident, search online for a stencil and use that to paint onto the wall.
For the Garden
If using Cherry Blossom as wallpaper seems a bit overwhelming, then consider making space in the garden for a tree. There are many different varieties to choose from. Some flower and drop very quickly and some weep which looks very attractive (the Shidarezakura). The most popular variety is the Somei Yoshino. You need plenty of sun in the area you intend to plant it. They will flower in the Spring and last only two to four weeks.
