A Wide Arc of Art by Deborah Julian

What cool things are contemporary women artists up to these days? If Deborah Julian is any example, innovation and creativity are taking them down all kinds of exciting new paths.

Among women artists, Deborah Julian is a rising star.

Her creative skills flood her online galleries with vibrant color, humor and insightful observation.

Her most popular work is cat art, which she extends to create gifts, like hand-decorated keepsake boxes, refrigerator magnets and cat greeting cards. Famous Artists' Cats takes advantage of her professional experience in art history and the sale of modern art. What she images in these images is "what would famous art be like if the artists had my cats."

The results are both gorgeous and funny.

You can see in Passing, Deborah is a street photographer with an artist's eye for the often gritty scenes on city streets. Her pictures are always unposed and reflect a poetic sense of balance and suggestions.

Deborah is a colorist. Henri Matisse is her favorite artist, and it shows. She brings that taste into the visual discoveries she makes while roaming urban areas with her camera at hand.

Contemporary Cat Art For Sale by Deborah Julian

Deborah's most popular art may be her Cat Art Collection or Famous Artists and Cats, from which Cezanne's Cats is taken. The colorful depictions range from the playful to the hilarious or the thoughtfully sensitive.

At the art fairs where Deborah shows her work first hand, the cat art prints and cards are popular as gifts and with collectors. She has converted many of them to consumer items, like magnets and mugs, which I can show you a little later.

Contemporary Art Note Cards by Deborah Julian

The versatility of Deborah's art work has often allowed her to take her fine art prints and turn them into products people use every day, like note cards, invitations, magnets, T-shirts and so on.

In the example shown above, a cat is portrayed in a familiar pose. The sentiment itself is one that has proved popular as a boyfriend, lover and general "gift for him" item. It has also been made into a T-shirt and imprinted on mugs and magnets.
