THE ART OF HAND LETTERING

Sometimes simple things can be the most stylish and thought capturing and this is no exception, I adore this, making your own designs and personalising initials for instance, I am going to be practicing this art over the Summer and hope to add our family's initials to a collage of photographs on a family photo wall. This would also be a beautiful and thoughtful thing to do for a new baby's bedroom wall or a teen's birthday gift, something to be kept for many years to come and for those of you who are handy with a needle perhaps this could be drawn and then embroidered onto a cushion or hung in a frame - who knows there are no limits to the possibilities that this could be used for.

Beautiful Homemade Stepping Stones

Aren't these just beautiful, homemade little jewels for your garden, your friends and family won't believe you made them yourself and what a lovely thing to give people as a gift, I just love these and this tutorial will teach you how to make stepping stones using a cake pan and contact paper - just in time for Summer parties.

PAINTED DRESSER AS KITCHEN ISLE

It is truly amazing what a new coat of paint and few screwed on accessories can do - this old wooden dresser was turned into a Kitchen Island and is the perfect budge-friendly kitchen feature. The idea comes from one of my favourite websites, Apartment Therapy, and when you look at the site you will see that the other end of the island has been fixed with a blackboard, ideal for writing your shopping list or as you can see in the photograph it will keep your toddlers amused while you're busy around the kitchen.

WATER BALLOON LUMINARIES

I love these, I mean I love candles in any shape and format but these beautiful little homemade see-through luminaries will look just perfect dotted along a garden path for Summer parties and barbecues. Having a dinner party pop them along your driveway it will be such a welcoming sight for your guests and family and make them feel really special. And of course since the are homemade you can color co-ordinate them to match your other décor, Recently when completing the final layer of wax for these I lightly pressed some fern leaves and flower petals into the warm wax and they looked extra special - yes I did feel a tad smug when people asked me where I got them from and I could very happily say that I had made them myself.

Tie Dye T-Shirts with Sharpie Markers

This is such a fun and lovely craft and art project to do with your kids, my children and I adore making things and since we can make something that we can wear and it's an original it makes it all that more special. I especially think that this is a really good idea for when you have a stain on a piece of clothing that you can't get out, instead of just throwing it away you can recycle it and give it a whole new lease of life.

WORD BRACELETS

These gorgeously simple pretty bracelets are easily made, great instructions on the website and all you need is some strands of hemp and word beads that mean something to you or to the person that you're making these for. My daughter got so excited when she saw these and we're planning to make them next weekend, I have a feeling that there's going to be lots of girls at her school wearing these very soon. And if you have a birthday party for older girls coming up I'm sure that these would be perfect as little thank you gifts to hand out as they're leaving.

HOLDER FOR CELL PHONE AND CABLE

Now this is a brilliant piece of crafting that is really useful, I am fed up of all the cables trailing across floors or hanging down from sockets when there are phones charging, this keeps it all neatly tucked away, it is easy to make and you can match the holder to your décor for a discrete version or the kids will just love something bright and snazzy for their rooms like the photograph above. It is also a wonderful bit of recycling/upcycling using an old lotion bottle and piece of odd fabric, why throw things away when you can turn them into something this useful!

MEMORY PILLOW

This is such a lovely, lovely idea from the Crafting Connections website, it is a way of immortalizing your child's drawings, choose your favorite creation and turn it into something that will be in your home for all to see for years to come, each time you enter the room where it is it will make you smile and when your son or daughter sees that you have kept their drawing in this special way it will make them feel treasured. Follow this beautiful explained tutorial and achieve something really very special.

BRAIDED HEADBAND

This is a very simple to follow photograph tutorial on making different variations of braided headbands, it is very well photographed and I can't wait to try it out on my daughter. There's always spare bits of fabric floating around the house and of course instead of throwing old clothes that have been attacked by moths or spoiled by stains you can recycle them and get a very pretty hairband in the process.

FLOATING BOOK SHELVES

As you can see the photos above show you exactly how to make these amazing Floating Book Shelves, if you can operate a drill to makes holes in a wall then trust me you can achieve this stunning piece of décor in a short period of time. To see some more insanely easy craft / DIY ideas use the Floating Book Shelves link above.

FROM PALLET TO BOOKSHELVES

I think these are absolutely fabulous, I used to go to an old village library when my son was a toddler and they had shelves very similar to these, they made it very easy for young children to choose books from them and to be able to put them back all by themselves. The idea that they can be made from old pallets is just a marvellous way of upcycling - AND they look fabulous.

Watermark T-Shirt

Isn't this t-shirt beautiful?! This can DIY t-shirt would make such a wonderful personalised gift for those nearest and dearest to you, taking their favorite quotations or sayings, designs, names and adding them to a piece of pretty clothing for them to wear, or it would make a fabulous craft day for a birthday party or indeed part of a goodie bag for a birthday party - so much more individual and special. I hope you will all have a go at this and I think my daughter and friends are going to have a lot of fun with this very soon.

HANGING HERB GARDEN

Living herb plants growing and hanging upside down without any mess, what a great idea, very handy in the kitchen, and they are taking up absolutely no counter space (always a plus in my galley style kitchen). This project is much easier than it looks at first and if you're fond of mint then it's a great way to grow it without it taking over your whole garden, and you won't have to go out in the rain to cut some when you need it.

SEW A SHELL-TRIMMED TABLECLOTH

I love anything to do with the seashore, in fact I have a pale blue and white beach hut in my garden (we're miles from the sea by the way) which my husband bought for my birthday a couple of years ago and it's my favourite peaceful place to be. So with that in mind this cool crisp looking tablecloth trimmed with tiny little shells is in my opinion just gorgeous, easy simple instructions and you'll have something to use in the garden or in the house that you will treasure.

TRANSFORM AN OLD TABLE

Do you need a kitchen table and you don't have much of a budget? Why not purchase an old table from Ebay or the classified adverts in your local newspapers and transform it by giving it a lick of paint and making an oilcloth cover so that it wipes clean in seconds. I love the look of this bright and fresh spotty pattern and it will be so easy to find a pattern to complement your kitchen.

HOW TO MAKE A SWADDLE BLANKET

This ... is ... adorable, my children are far too old for swaddling but I remember having to tuck the blanket in all neat so that they would stay safe and warm, but I absolutely love this swaddling blanket that ties so beautifully in front of the baby. And I can't think of a more thoughtful and sweet gift to give to any new Mother, and how delightful to be able to explain what it's for incase she's a first time Mum - passing on our mothering knowledge is a priceless gift.

USING TENSION RODS TO ORGANISE YOUR PANTRY

I was constantly fighting with cutting boards and pan lids in my cupboards until I saw this really clever, really easy, really cheap (need I say more?) answer to my problem. The simple use of curtain tension rods put into the cupboards, which obviously fit ANY size cupboard or space you have and will keep everything from falling over onto one another, just slide whatever it is you need out and slide it back in again, no chaos, no trapped fingers with heavy wooden cutting boards and no stress - a simple clever solution.

Note: This website has 7 other smart kitchen organizing tips for you to check out.

Candles in Seashells

I think these are just beautiful, enhancing any dining table or room décor. Martha Stewart 'Queen of Crafts' has done it again with this wonderful tutorial, my children and I always bring home seashells when we've been away on holiday or just away at the beach for a day trip. Sometimes they gather dust on the side, end up in a drawer or just have a way of losing themselves but with this crafty idea they will continue to light up our lives and make us smile just the way they did when we first found them.

ORIGAMI - LITTLE GUIDING STARS

This little craft project is absolutely delightful, the person who came up with this is so wonderfully thoughtful and can be my friend any day - tiny colourful little packages filled with inspirational mottos and sayings - this could be a great way to greet children entering a classroom on a new school year as a way of getting to know each other and their new teacher.

I thought maybe a star design origami paper would be ideal for making these little inspirational packages, see link below:

DIY: CAPIZ SHELL CHANDELIER

Isn't this chandelier beautiful? I love this and so does my daughter, I think this is going to be one of those Summer holiday projects that we will love doing and then find never-ending joy in using, obviously she wants it for her room and I'd like it in the conservatory - maybe we'll make two. I have seen very similar chandeliers in the shops and they cost an absolute fortune, it is much cheaper to do it yourself and you get that wonderful feeling of achievement once you've made it - beats the hell out of a dent in your wallet feeling.

ETCHED GLASS STORAGE JARS

I love projects that give a new lease of life to things that were destined to be thrown away - and this little beauty will also help me a recent problem. My daughter was in the kitchen with her friend making iced fairy cakes and I could hear them mumbling over something and eventually they both came out and said that they were having a problem with the icing, it just didn't look or smell right - both kilner jars were next to one another - icing sugar in one, flour in the other - yep they were trying to make icing and were rapidly making a very thin looking dough. It was funny and I wasn't looking to solve the problem because, well I know which one is which, but then I found this glass etching craft page and actually not only does it solve a problem but it looks gorgeous too - I hope you enjoy this and put it to good use.

MASON JAR KEY HOOK

Another simple little craft project that just bumps it up a notch, I mean no you don't really need the mason jar but it looks so delightful you want the mason jar. No more lost keys, in fact it's a joy to hang your keys on this board.

FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS TUTORIAL

Friendship bracelets, I have always wanted to know how to make these delightful colourful bracelets, my daughter and her friends adore them and it's always been a failing of mine that I don't have a clue how to do them - until now!

Great tutorial, thumbs up to the "Honestly WTF" website for this step-by-step account.

All you need to make these colourful bracelets is a pair of scissors, a safety pin and some embroidery thread - cheap, easy and your friends are going to love them.

DIY SAILOR'S KNOT BRACELET OR STRAP

Here's another great idea for a bracelet, and if you used a larger container you could make a belt or perhaps a strap for your camera, I love taking photographs and I think that this would make a really individual strap which is strong and I would love - maybe you could make it as a present for the photographer in your life.

LEAF SKELETON ART

I have a piece of art very like this which uses skeleton leaves between two sheets of glass, I adore the way the light catches it, the fact that it's a real piece of nature and that the wall colour (a gorgeous olive green) shows through the art. However what I didn't like was the extortionate price I paid for it, especially now I've realised just how easy it is to make it myself, this is a great tutorial giving you easy instructions to make beautiful art.

DIY POUF OR BEANBAG CHAIR

This is a slightly more challenging piece of craft for you to get your teeth into, and since my sewing skills are rather sad I don't think I would be able to do this, however I love these little seats and so do my children, in fact I think all children adore these, you can climb on them, sit on them, give your dollies a place to sit and I'm sure my basset, Ruby, would make it her very own bed, so if there's anyone out there who wants to make me one I would greatly appreciate it because they're quite, quite beautiful.

TISSUE FLOWERS AND POM POM GARLAND

This is such a colourful and easy decoration to make either in the form of a garland that you can drape around a room, or my personal aim is to have them draped around the garden for this year's Summer party and barbecue, and I'm sure that after the party they will end up in my daughter's room as in the photograph above.

A great DIY lesson, needing nothing more than some tissue paper, heavy-duty scissors and some floral wire.

MIRROR MAKEOVER

I love this natural finish for this plain mirror, I actually have 2 old mirrors from years ago stuffed at the back of a garden shed, I couldn't bring myself to throw them away as there is no aging and the quality of the mirrors is superb but I don't like the design of them, this project will alter them perfectly for hanging in my home, not only will they be a joy but it will be so nice to see them being used for their original purpose rather than for spiders to hang in front of admiring their legs.

WARM AND COSY DOG BED MADE FROM NEWSPAPERS

As you can see this piece of craftwork was originally designed for holding odds and ends or magazines but I think it would be a fabulous basket for that puppy that constantly needs a fresh bed because it's been out in the rain, got a bit muddy or wants a snuggly place with no drafts, paper's surprising warm and with the cost of beds going up and up, and I know that when my dogs were puppies they chewed every basket I put down to them, this solves the problem it's made from one of the large Sunday newspapers and still manages to look delightful.

DIY FIRE & ICE LANTERNS

This is a stunning and easy project for Winter lamps to line your pathway at a holiday gathering - having a New Year's Party or a family Christmas then light the way to your door with these wonderful Fire and Ice lamps - yes they really are made from ice.

SINGLE-USE FLOWER PETAL SOAPS

What a lovely thing for a guest bathroom or your downstairs cloakroom, the petals are made of soap and thin enough so that they are designed for single-use, no more bits of soap hanging around the washbasin Delightful and beautiful - even the kids will want to wash their hands.

GRAND UNDERSTAIRS STORAGE

This is a piece of craft work on a giant scale - I have no idea how to do this, and couldn't find anything on the internet to show me, BUT if you know a handy carpenter or you are a handy carpenter then this is definitely my idea of a project that I would just love to have in my house and all my friends agree - so if you're a handyman who can do, knock this up and publicise it because I'm sure you'll have lots of willing customers.

If you're in the UK and looking for someone to do this sort of work I have recently used a site called "Rated People" where you can post the job you want done and local craftsmen apply to do the work, you set your price range and you can look up and see what other people have said about the work that they did for them, brilliant service and an idea/website that works. I am in no way affiliated with this site so I am only recommending them because I used it and thought it was brilliant.

i love all the ideas you had mentioned. Mostly are wonderful craft projects for home. The best idea is the cellphone holder. I had seen this craft in another website. It uses the old baby shower foam container. Very creative and useful. I always have problem locating my charger. Thanks for the hub. Voted interesting
