Crochet Amigurumi Monkeys

Crocheting Monkey Fun!

Amigurumi are a new and fun trend in crochet. The creation of amusing little creatures that are lovable and fun. Many collect them, others make them for their children or to give away. yet others give them to children's charities or even make them for selling as a source of income.

The word Amigurumi is Japanese and means knitted stuffed toy. The popularity of Amigurumi has been so large that they crossed over from knitting to crochet and have already found a lodging in the heart of many crocheters.

Most Amigurumi are round and worked in rounds. These rounds are never joined but are worked in a spiral form. I personally like the "pillow" style and design my own like that. The spiral Amigurumi sometimes are hard for beginners. Some have limbs that are disproportionately long or too short, giving them a cutely "odd" look.

Some crocheters like to use purchased eyes and noses, but I usually make my own as I go.

You can also use felt to create the eyes, nose and ears. It depends on your taste and imagination. That is one of the fun aspects of Amigurumi! I like mine to be full of color and I try to give them cute expressions and "personalities", that is reason why I call my little criters "Funmigurumi".

You can create your own Amis, or follow any of the many wonderful FREE patterns that can be found online.

I specifically want to share some Amigurumi monkey patterns with you that are truly lovable and FREE. Hope you enjoy them!
