A 30-Minute Earring to Crochet

Although my first drafts for this series are those of teardrop earrings, they were the last to come into reality. Shaping these earrings really gave me a lot of headache.

But they turned out so beautiful. All the hard work I put into it was worth it.

MATERIALS:

Each pair of earrings is crocheted using three strands of polyester thread using a 1.00 mm steel hook. The first pair is crocheted using various shades of flesh, while the second used black, gray and purple.

For a complete list of materials, see the COVER HUB.

MEASUREMENTS:

This motif measures 3.5 cm.

Instead of using a fish hook for this earring, I used a kidney wire. They were packed and I thought it was fish hooks. Anyways I like this too because it makes a motif face forward even though it looks frail.

Hi Michelle!

The pattern starts with 6 chains.

The very FIRST chain serves as the ring where all the dc's in round 1 is anchored.

The SECOND to FOURTH ch (equivalent to 3 ch) is equivalent to 1 dc.

The FIFTH and SIXTH ch is equivalent to 2 chains.

Therefore, it is equivalent to "(dc in first ch, ch 2)", which is repeated 7x.

This means that in the first round, we have 8 dc-ch-2 groups in round 1.

I hope this clears things up. If it isn't, try to check the crochet chart to help you visualize the pattern.

Thanks for taking the time to crochet this pattern and for leaving a comment.

I dont' get Round 1. Can you please explain that to me? What happens with the ch2 from the ch6 that is never used? It's just hangs out?? Or am I just reading it wrong?

It took me quite a long time to learn to read patterns too.

These links should help you:

Since you are new to crochet, I suggest you do these patterns in worsted first before doing it in sewing thread.

It will be difficult but with perseverance you can succeed. Good luck!

I was playing around with the sewing threads I have and discovered that black-grey-purple combination is awesome. Thanks Patrice for leaving a comment and appreciating my work.

@paralegalpro - I really appreciate your comment. It's so sad you can't try to make these but I'm so honored you find this pattern worthy of being shared with your friends.

Another lovely pair of earrings, Moira. I like the color combination of black, grey and purple!

I can't get over how delicate and beautiful these are. If I could work with a hook that small, I might try it, but it's hard when you have big hands like mine. Thanks for sharing, though. I want to pass this along to a couple of friends. I think they would love to make these as gifts for friends.
