Easy to Make Flamingo Friendship Cricut Card
I have been trying to figure out a reason to use these wonderful flamingos on a homemade greeting card using my Cricut personal cutting machine. When I purchased the Cricut Serenade cartridge I noticed the cute flamingo shapes that I would be able to use.
One great reason to make a homemade greeting card is to remind those special to you that you value their friendship. Sending a friendship card is great and is for no other reason than to let your friend know that you value their friendship, especially in these busy times when it sometimes takes most of our time to get through a day.
Quality Cardstock is important to use when cutting with a Cricut machine. The cardstock used in this card is a heavier weight type because of the small intricate shapes to cut out on the flamingos and the flowers inbetween them. I try to pick cardstock that does not have a white core, as some do. The reason for this is when viewing the cut out shapes it takes away from the visual when you see white edges.
Cricut Machine Cartridge: Serenade
Cricut Machine Cartridge: Stamping
Stampin'Up Stamp: Friendship from the "For Everything" collection
Cricut Blade Depth: #2
Cricut Speed: Medium
Cricut Pressure: Max
Step by Step
Cut a piece of cardstock to measure 5 1/4" x 4" and adhere it to the base card. I chose a yellow lattice cardstock pattern for the yellow card.
Serenade Cartridge: Flamingos
Cut one <Flamingo>, size 4" using the Base keyboard key. This cuts out the body and legs of the flamingo. Purple cardstock
Cut one <Flamingo>, size 4" using the Layer and Base keyboard keys. This cuts out the small squiggle shape for the body. Purple cardstock.
Cut one <Flamingo>, size 4" using the Shift and Base keyboard keys. This cuts out the Body and neck only. Bright Pink Cardstock.
Cut one <Flamingo>, size 4" using the Shadow and Base keyboard keys. This cuts out the large bottom layer of the flamingo. White Cardstock.
Repeat the steps above but use the FLIP keyboard key also. This will cut out the flamingo in reverse. The final 2 flamingos will be facing each other.
Adhere the 2 flamingo shape layers together as shown.
Adhere the completed shapes to the card, close to the top and edges so a space is left in the middle for the flowering plant.
Serenade Cartridge: Flowering Plant
Cut one <Plant2>, size 2 1/2", using the Base keyboard key. This cuts out the entire plant shape. Subtle printed green cardstock.
Cut one <Plant2>, size 2 1/2", using the Shift and Base keyboard key. This cuts out the tiny buds. Bright Pink cardstock.
Cut one <Plant2>, size 2 1/2", using the Layer and Base keyboard key. This cuts out the Branches of the plant. Green cardstock.
Cut one <Plant2>, size 2 1/2", using the Shadow and Base keyboard key. This cuts out the larger entire plant shape. Green cardstock.
On the base card itself adhere the plant cut outs together. Shadow Layer, then Base, Layer with tiny buds last. I used the poking tool from the Cricut Essentials kit to pick up and place each bud.
Stamping Cartridge: Oval Shapes
Cut one each <VctrnFrm>, size 2" green cardstock , size 1 3/4" purple cardstock, and size 1 1/2" yellow cardstock.
Adhere the three ovals together ending up with the yellow layer on top
Carefully stamp the "Friendship" sentiment on the top yellow layer. You can do this either before you put the layers together or after.
Adhere the completed oval layers to the bottom center of the card.
Finishing Touch: Add a small yellow bow to the top of the card.
This cartridge has so many fun shapes to cut out for handmade cards and scrapbooking layouts.
