Easy to Make a Cricut Valentine's Card
Another great card to make using my Cricut personal cutting machine! This time I used the Sweethearts cartridge by Cricut. This cartridge has the romantic theme running through it from cover to cover. I have made cards for engagements, weddings, and of course Valentine's Day.
The monkey cutout in the book was the traditional color scheme you would expect of a monkey but I decided to put the Valentine's Day colors on my monkey. I added some small pen marks to accent the face of the monkey too.
These cutouts are very easy but I do recommend a heavier cardstock for the intricate areas of the monkey's body.
Cricut Cartridge: Sweethearts
Cricut Blade Depth: #2
Cricut Machine Pressure: Max
Cricut Machine Speed: Medium
For the monkeys face: you will be cutting two, one green and one pink.
For the vine: each vine layer will be covered by the monkey's body and/or the leaf.
Step by Step
Cut your background paper to be 5 1/4" x 4" for a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card.
Adhere the background cardstock to the card.
Monkey, Leaf and Vine (Page 43):
Cut one <Monkey>, size 2", using the Shadow and base keyboard key. This will cut out the larger shadow layer. I used Pink cardstock.
Cut one <Monkey>, size 2", using the Blackout and base keyboard key. This will cut out the middle blackout layer. I used Red cardstock.
Cut one <Monkey>, size 2", using the base keyboard key. This will cut out the top layer. I used Green cardstock.
Cut 2 of the monkey face using 2 different colors of cardstock:
Cut one <Monkey>, size 2", using the Layer and base keyboard key. This will cut out the larger face and smaller mouth area. I used Green cardstock for the larger face and discarded the smaller green cutout.
Cut one <Monkey>, size 2", using the Layer and base keyboard key. Again, this will cutout the larger face and smaller mouth area but this time I used Pink cardstock for the smaller mouth area and discarded the larger face.
Cut one <Banana4U>, size 2", using the Shadow and base keyboard key. This will cut out the larger shadow layer of the sentiment. I used Pink cardstock.
Cut one <Banana4U>, size 2", using the base keyboard key. This will cut out the top layer of the sentiment. I used Red cardstock.
Adhere the sentiment layer to the bottom of the card, shadow first then top layer.
Adhere the Monkey, Leaf, and Vine:
Adhere the Shadow layer first with the leaf being on the left, the vine overlapping the leaf a bit, then the monkey to the right. The small heart goes just between his hands.
Adhere the base layer next. The vine will overlap again giving the image of the monkey being around the vine.
Adhere the Blackout layer next. Again do the overlap with the vine.
Adhere the Green face layer next.
Adhere the Pink mouth layer on top.
Using a scrapbooking marker, make lines for the ears, the mouth, and the eyes.
